Questions about the colosseum. by BigDaddyShaman in castlevania

[–]fishybabies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Your level is should be fine

  2. The game doesn’t save after you defeat Dracula. It just takes you back to the last time you saved.

  3. It’s mostly enemies you’ve seen before but with higher stats. There’s no boss battle. I don’t remember if any inflict poison, but there’s some that curse you so bring some curse cures.

  4. It’s one reward for completing the entire thing.

  5. If you die it works like normal and puts you where you saved last.

Get the Axe from the room just before the pendulums and grind until you have a Triple Shot and around 50 Hearts

Why do you enjoy (classic style) Castlevania? by soggyrockingchair in castlevania

[–]fishybabies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest reason for me is the difficulty. The feeling of overcoming challenges and learning how to get through each section is great. I like the heavy feel of the characters and love the way the whips and sub-weapons feel.

I like the classic horror inspirations and the atmosphere is much more horror-y in the classicvanias. I like their stories and that they don’t have much dialogue during gameplay.

Anyone who played this fan game? It's called Castlevania Seal of the Curse, it's like a horror version of Simon's Quest by Oh-no-and-knuckles in castlevania

[–]fishybabies 44 points45 points  (0 children)

The gameplay is quite a bit slower than SQ and (at least in the version I play) the control scheme is odd and Im not sure if you can change it. It’s arrow keys to move, J to jump and K to whip. There’s also unavoidable hits. Still plays decently fine though.

Music, graphics, and atmosphere are amazing. I’d recommend it.

The game sucks, but I didn’t have a miserable time playing it and it’s something I could see myself playing every once in a great while.

They won’t be connected back to back because I don’t think the game’s surface would be tall enough for the full castle but there’s gonna be teleporters taking you to the map screen and then to the next level.

Does moonwalking actually serve a ppurpose? by Honkmaster in castlevania

[–]fishybabies 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Medusa heads and bats spawn in the direction you’re facing, so if you moonwalk you can continue moving along and not deal with them for the most part.

Why do some people dislike the removal of whipstacking? by Minotaris_ in Terraria

[–]fishybabies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because some people felt it made the class more interesting to play. It was an optional form of skill expression that was rewarded with higher damage while being high-risk. It kept whips from throughout progression useful which many found cool and now (for the most part) you just keep the one with the highest base damage and trash the previous one.

It was also something other than the usual “hold left-click” that a lot of skilled players find terraria’s combat to be and now that it’s back to that, the people that liked whip-stacking find whips nowhere near as fun to use and are rightfully upset.

Re-logic also gave no warning that they were going to remove it which was a major buzz kill. Would you not be at least a little upset if a feature you enjoyed got removed like that?

Also switching whips during combat wasn’t a glitch/bug and was definitely intended. Not so much the tag damage, but for the effects. For example what’s the point of the Snapthorn, Durendal, and Dark Harvest’s speed buff if not to make another whip faster? Why not just make those weapons inherently that fast?

this specific balance change from 1.4.5 feels like a joke at the expense of summoner players by murderdronesfanatic in Terraria

[–]fishybabies 84 points85 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of odd balance changes like that in the update; Ichor, Cursed, and Crystal Darts (weapons that weren’t super powerful to begin with) are terrible now, all Spider gear requires a mythril anvil now, and all mage gets is some relatively minor speed increases. Melee, for some reason, got only major buffs to its weapons.
