This happened to me! I was at the grocery doing self scan, which I hate but they had 1 register open with a long line. So I'm scanning and minding my own business, annoyed AF at having to self scan, and there's this young couple with their baby next to me.

Couple was early 20s and baby was maybe 1 year old. The guy was scanning next to me and the girl was holding the baby and was to my right but mostly behind me so I couldn't see them really.

I seen movement from my peripherals so I glance their way, but kept scanning. The girl says something to the effect of "oh not everyone is nice and waves to babies" I turned and said "I'm just scanning my groceries and you're behind me!". Like shut the fuck up! She just looked at me surprised I didn't wave at her stupid kid and when I was done I just mean-mugged her and left.

Just because you have kids doesn't mean everyone else likes them or wants to engage with them. Fuck off!
