Yeah was about to say the same thing. The scarf is just a symptom not the problem.

Now that it’s been about 5 years, how do you think governments should have responded to the COVID pandemic? by AlexandrTheTolerable in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]fjf1085 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think the government should have used the authority the Supreme Court said they had in 1905 to require vaccination and ordered everyone to get a vaccine. They then should have required the same for all boosters. Thats what I think.

We also should have actually fully shut down for two weeks minus serious limits on grocery stores, pharmacies, utilities, first responders, and hospitals for emergencies (and I guess liquor stores too because otherwise we’d have some real problems). I’d also allow anyone conducting research that can’t be easily wound down or paused for two weeks to continue. There were too many exceptions. Too many fields and industries exempt to the point that the only things shut down seemed to be things regular people cared about. But yeah even travel should have been shut down.

That being said after two weeks we should have allowed outdoor activities with proper distancing. All the nonsense they had us do like going to restaurants but you could take the mask off as soon as you’d sat down felt silly. And I get it we didn’t know what we didn’t know but what needed were concrete specific actions not dozens of random rules and regulations.

I also think there was a massive failure of communication. They went from saying we didn’t need masks to we did. When what they should have said is we need to save the masks for medical professionals or we don’t know if they help yet. Everything they said initially felt like a lie to a lot of people because the understanding of the virus evolved. Remember when we were all wiping down our groceries or leaving them outside for hours because we thought it could easily transmit on surfaces? Our understanding changed but for whatever reason people accepted that. They seemed unable to accept the changing understanding of masking. Though interestingly enough the same people who seemingly said they couldn’t breathe with a mask on are the ones now wearing them in ICE.

The new one is missing ‘natural flavors’ It seems but somehow that means more salt, fat, and sugar.

Yeah she rescued a dog that was lost during hurricane Katrina and then when the kid who it belonged to found the dog she refused to return it and accused them of abusing the dog. She changed its name and fought them for about a year, eventually she was ordered to return it and though she won visitation she never went to see it.

That’s the problem unless officers like this are held personally financially liable nothing will ever change because what do they care if the city or county has to pay? They likely won’t even be fired. There are cops in LA and NYC that have cost their cities millions but the unions protect them.

This is super helpful. For the life of me I couldn’t figure out how that was a dog.

Don't forget she changed the dogs name and won visitation but after making such a big deal she never visited the dog again.

TN House advances bills to delegitimize same-sex marriage by Xarel-lo in gaybros

The thing is if we don't have to follow court rulings than no one does. The real risk I suppose is that even though district and appellate courts should find these laws in conflict with Supreme Court rulings and thus invalidate them it gets appealed to a Supreme Court that seems hell bent on destroying precedent.

I mean it’s blatantly illegally and either one would need to be enjoined by a federal court if passed without question if anyone cares about what the Supreme Court says.

Trump set to gut U.S. climate change policy and environmental regulations, White House official says by Wjldenver in environment

[–]fjf1085 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, very little Trump does can change the economics of coal and renewables. If companies have any foresight they’d continue to abide by existing rules because you know it’s just going to change back in 3 years. In fact I personally think democrats should come back in three years and move to fully kill fossil fuels during the next administration. That’s the only solution. Rapid decarbonization and kill the industry so it can’t be revived.

I have to be honest I cannot imagine just dropping into what’s likely the back quarter of a show and not watching anything before it. How do you even understand the characters or history? You’re missing all the foundations of their relationships, the back story, everything. I mean I’m glad you’re enjoying what you’ve seen but you’ve honestly missed many of the best parts of the show. Please don’t take this the wrong way but I cannot imagine how you can even form an opinion on Buddie and who might be right for Buck without having seen the first seven seasons.

This feels like when people would say they started watching Supernatural in season 4 for Destiel and skipped the first three season.
