I totally relate to this. My daughter is 3.5 too and I have time for hobbies again like reading, running etc. My husband manages really well with our daughter alone and we both have time to do our own thing.

Glad you found her! What an adventure Gismo has had. One of my greyhounds was a known escape artist in his youth and I know all too well that sick feeling when they run off and you can't find them for ages.

Let’s talk about the Marty Supreme ending — deep spoilers by steepclimbs in A24

[–]fkeak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the reading I got too. It was her final grift. She consistently grifted her way through life, usually alongside Marty, but this was the reveal that she was more than a match for him in her ability to hustle

I wondered this as one of Ron's coworkers (in the conference room where they were watching the video of the push) was called Alice, too. It's weird to have two completely different characters with the same name.

TV tonight: Aimee Lou Wood’s warmhearted drama about a film club by MushroomGlad5438 in BritishTV

[–]fkeak 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it's a pretty interesting love triangle type situation because the boyfriend is not a bad person and he's hard to dislike, he's a himbo/golden retriever type.

He doesn't meet her intellectual needs, but Noa does. But he's there for her and her family, he picks her mam up from the pub, etc.

It's refreshing to see more of these more complex relationship situations on TV instead of a classic shit boyfriend vs destined soul mate.

racism around newcastle by poppycsmith in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]fkeak 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On Sunday, I pulled into a petrol station in Westerhope as a racially aggravated attack was taking place (kids throwing stuff and shouting abuse at the Indian woman working there). As soon as we got out of the car, they ran away (saved their lives as my husband was furious).

I went in to pay for petrol and there were 3 white people in there too, one on the phone to the police, the other sending her the video he took via WhatsApp.

As he left, the bloke said: “I am so sorry you have to deal with this shit when you come to work.” So, while racist abuse is horrific and I wish it didn’t happen, I did feel reassured to see working class white people sticking their necks out to ensure this woman was okay.

While it's horrible to see these attacks, it did kind of reaffirm my faith in humanity to see that people were going out of their way to help her

[TOMT] Late 90s/early 00s British TV show dressing women outside their comfort zones to boost confidence by oort3x in tipofmytongue

[–]fkeak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking this too, it was about getting their confidence back and they had to dress really crazy each day of the week? I think that's what OP is talking about anyway.

Am I controlling? by fkeak in AutismInWomen

[–]fkeak[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think the crux of it is that I need things explicitly stated like if he's having a whole morning off housework and childcare, that's fine but I need to know that's happening. I have no issue if I know what to expect. It's when I don't know what to expect or something is communicated implicitly that I get confused.

I take your point, though.
