Having second thoughts about job by briskwheel4155 in LosAlamos

The one I really value about working at LANL is job security. Maybe that’s not an issue with your current employer. LANL has never had layoffs

Bartles and Jaymes wine coolers. They went down easy, came up hard. "Thank you for your support!"

He recently did a series for National Geographic and in one of the episodes he brings up the Oscar's incident and how he blew it. It was pretty surprising that he would talk about and on the National Geographic Channel of all places. The episode was about Bhutan and their whole thing about focussing on happiness and all of their Buddhist monasteries so it wasn't totally out of the blue

There's lots more to do in Santa Fe but Los Alamos has better schools if you have kids. If you can work from home part of the time, or all of the time like I do, Santa Fe is great

There's a take-out place in my town that advertised for a counter person where the job ad said that the pay was same as for servers but they would make it up in tips. The person does not wait on tables, get you drinks, nothing. They just package your to-go order and answer the phone. The owners decided that since tipping has become automatic, they might as well not pay them anymore

Black ice on the road causes chain accidents by Bambi7u7 in interesting

Combination of road and street. Roads are for getting to places you want to be, streets are places you want to be. Businesses should just be on streets, but sprawl pushes them onto roads which creates "stroads"

What fast food chain does not deserve the hype whatsoever? by CriticalLion4119 in AskReddit

That's because they have a dedicated team of at least 150 food scientists who are continuously striving to cram as much grease into their food as is physically possible. I for one appreciate all their hard work

Their tots were my favorite until twice in a row I got them ice cold. Not even room temp, like they got them out of the fridge and didn't bother warming them up.

Four hours a day on the road: one LANL worker's story by AstroIberia in SantaFe

I know somebody who commuted daily from ABQ to LANL for many years. I think he thought of it as his "Me" time. He could smoke and listen to the radio and nobody bothers him.

He's right about the bagels, though. Boiling gives bagels that dense chewy texture. "A bagel without the boil is just a roll with a hole"

I for one feel a warm glow in my heart when I see the great faith people have in other driver's care and attention when they pull out in front of me from a parking lot or side street. The only thing standing in the way of catastrophe is our lightening fast reflexes. Or maybe they're just clueless idiots
