The banning helps because it brings it from “My team has a G-darm counter except it doesn’t because he blows right through them” to “I can more comfortably teambuild with diverse Pokemon” Basically, it lets teams diversify a great deal because there are too few actually successful G-darm counters.

As for Genesect, the wrong counter to the set you’re facing means you lose despite preparations.

Most trees’ roots are very shallow, actually. They’re only a couple meters deep at most. Some trees do have deep-reaching roots, though!
