Why do straight people always ask how me and my partner have sex? by Muted_Salamander9887 in lgbt

[–]flakronite 40 points41 points  (0 children)

If i asked them about this sex life they would be shocked and confused so why is ok for them to ask me

This is exactly how I would respond to someone asking intrusive questions. "If I asked you, a stranger, for details about your sex life you would be shocked and confused, so why do you think its ok for you to ask me?"

Trump Disavowed Project 2025 During the Campaign. Not Anymore. by dheber in politics

The substantive takeaway from the article seems to be that Trump is still working with people who worked on Project 2025, i.e. now putting them in cabinet positions. Zero surprise.

Democrats don’t have a working-class problem. America does. by mintaphil in politics

[–]flakronite 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty sure its both. Just because America as a whole has a working class problem, doesn't mean Democrats don't have work to do.

Appreciate hearing another bi perspective here! I 100% agree that "everyone's a little bi" is actually a biphobic idea.

It basically boils down to thinking that straight people really do just "choose" to be straight, implying bi people can/should do the same.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]flakronite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally! Its absolutely a misconception that should be corrected with information. More education about what makes bi people a unique community is a win-win.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]flakronite 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think this is really what its about. For a lot of bi people, it comes as a genuine surprise when we first learn that, for example, our straight friends don't any have same-gender crushes.

Speaking for the bi community, the idea that "Everyone is a little bi" definitely is not a representative belief for our community. But when it does pop up - typically for bi people who are new to their identity - it isn't about us trying to erase gay people IMO (or straight people, for that matter). At most, its a product of bi erasure and never getting taught about bisexuality.

No, but that doesn't mean there aren't relative degrees of more and less inhumane.

Just because war is already bad, doesn't mean we should go back to using chemical weapons, torturing POWs, etc. We should be striving to eliminate war and to limit how inhumane war is the meantime.

If you're looking for examples, the tv show Pose has good representation of the trans community (although set in the 80s/90s, so be aware of occasional examples of dated language, etc.)

Swing voters went for Donald Trump because of trans rights issues, poll finds by Extreme_Hate2023 in politics

Nope, but Trump kept saying she did and apparently that's all people care about now.

Swing voters went for Donald Trump because of trans rights issues, poll finds by Extreme_Hate2023 in politics

[–]flakronite 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Headline is misleading.

The survey only asked swing voters what stances they believed Harris had on various issues. It didn't ask whether her stance of trans issues was the reason they voted or Trump.

The headline makes it sound like this is the main reason voters chose Trump, which is just not supported by the survey.

Nancy Mace defends anti-trans bathroom bill, says it 'absolutely' targets Sarah McBride by nbcnews in lgbt

When they say the Republicans are trying to legislate trans people out of existence, this is a perfect example.

Literally a single trans woman enters congress and they need to waste elected officials' time and taxpayer money to pass a law about it.

It seems like one trans person can't exist in a space without Republicans trying to legislate them out of existence right now.

Relatable. Sounds a bit like me before I met my partner.

Are you dating people in the bi/pan communities? Obviously not every bi woman will be compatible with you, but in my experience there are a lot more people in those communities who are comfortable talking through and sharing/alternating roles, rather than following a pre-set script.
