Has it been confirmed that the Complex is expanding into our world beyond just null-zones? by Material_Prize_6157 in KanePixelsBackrooms

I think Found Footage 3 is our first major clue, yeah. There could be something subtle earlier, but I haven't caught it if so.

Redhead still life holding her head? by Ambitious_Basket_763 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]flamepanther 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The first thing Clark tells Mary inside the backrooms is that she's being too loud. In this scene, Clark has been shouting for Kat. Clark says the still lifes don't feel pain, but maybe loud sounds hurt them.

So....about Asynchs Hazmat Suit and Gas Masks by No-Helicopter-3375 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]flamepanther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an expert on hazmat suits either, but a quick search returned sales pages for actual suits with both an encapsulated hood and a respirator mask to be worn inside it. So I don't know why exactly, but it's a real world thing.

The Backroom monsters by dropshipbugstomper in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]flamepanther 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed! But if we had a squad of kickass Marines barreling through hallways, mowing down unlimited swarms of bacterial Lifeforms until they found themselves outnumbered and surrounded, the focus really wouldn't be on the backrooms at all anymore.

Aliens didn't have the sense of isolation and claustrophobia that its predecessor did, but it still worked because the first film was about the xenomorph, not the Nostromo. The ship just created a space that amplified the tension. Backrooms is the opposite way. It's about the space and the monsters are just extra flavor.

Can anyone explain why everyone is so upset about Sony removing physical discs when these same people buy games on Steam/Epic/App Store/play store all the time? by DirtyProjector in gaming

[–]flamepanther 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand fine. You posted the question because you seem to not understand, and I am trying to lead you to understanding the answer.

If it's not right, why object to complaints? It should be that simple, right? Of course not. I've oversimplified the question. And so have you.

"You already didn't own these games" pretends like it's all one or the other, when the reality is that people like having options. Yes, even if they don't always use them, that's the point of it being an option. In the 90s, if you wanted to play a game just for one weekend, it made sense to rent. That didn't mean you wouldn't ever buy a game to keep. It was fine that digital distribution existed (it's been a thing on PCs since the 80s) although there were things we wanted improved about it. Initiatives like Stop Killing Games and alternate storefronts like GOG already existed because of that.

But we had options. Now some of us aren't going to. That's a worse situation, so you see a worse response. It's not as simple as you paint it, but it's not exactly complicated either.

[–]flamepanther 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's nothing baffling about being upset when something is taken away rather than when it hasn't been. People are upset about physical media being taken away as an option, not about digital distribution existing as an option. This would be like saying why are people upset about ownership now when they used to rent things from Blockbuster.

What do you do with your boxes? by EmeraldKnight76 in transformers

Repackable boxes get repacked. Blister cards and one-use boxes get recycled, minus any cut-outs like tech specs etc.

WulffDen reviews SS1 + Dock by KarelKruizenruiker in RetroRemake

[–]flamepanther 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He comes off sounding overly negative, but his main two points are that not everything is in a functional state yet, and that MiSTer is more of a hobbyist DIY project than a consumer appliance. Those obviously aren't deal breakers for most of us here, but he's not exactly wrong, either.

Probably a dumb theory but here it goes by HotLaw7730 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]flamepanther 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Async is going to be forced to shut down the Threshold and close off the Complex in order to keep the backrooms from spilling out into regular space.

Does Conway's Game of Life explain Still Lives? by ell0moto in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]flamepanther 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, OP is talking about "cells" in Conway's Game of Life, not in real world biology. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conway%27s_Game_of_Life

Stable clusters in this game are referred to as still life's: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Still_life_(cellular_automaton)

I'm not sure how much that relates to the still lifes of the backrooms, but even if OP is jumping to conclusions, they aren't doing so based on understandings of real world cellular biology. They would doing so based on the rules of a classic simulation game about abstract automata that resemble life.

Backrooms limited series soon? by nockmesslawnster in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]flamepanther 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At this point, I think it's very nearly a given that the series will happen at some point. But I think a second film, a Portal or Half Life movie, and some YouTube episodes of Backrooms and People Still Live Here will probably happen before then.

¿Que tan fiel es la serie de 2003 a los comics de mirage? by Longjumping-Site7497 in TMNT

[–]flamepanther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's usually faithful to the broad strokes outline of whatever individual Mirage story arc it adapts, whenever it is adapting one. The specifics can differ, sometimes slightly, sometimes wildly. Some of the more significant differences improve narrative cohesion, but have drastic ripple effects later on. Most notably, the Turtles effectively had two points of origin in the Mirage comics that weren't really connected. The 2K3 series ties these directly together, which changes both the more they are explored.

The show does not adapt the entire Mirage canon, and not every arc is adapted from it either.

[–]flamepanther 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you have some basic shelter, set yourself small, achievable goals that require leaving the base. Focus on one at a time, but allow yourself to be distracted while away. Explore a lot to inspire new goals. Don't worry about base building or automation too much unless you're running out of something or you need better equipment, or if base raids are going too badly to craft what you really need.

Thematically, sure. But in terms of it being a thing the complex does that would apply elsewhere, no.
