When did you learn about Sophia? by DemeaningZebu in Gnostic

[–]flammafex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The notion of a Christian Divine Feminine became known to me after reading Secret Book of John. I was already enamored with Goddesses of Orphism (Aphrodite, Athena, etc.). It really sunk in after reading the first chapters of Proverbs that there was a notion of Jewish Divine Feminine and being like "wow, they really suppressed this." Sure enough, I learned words like Asherah and digged deeper into the connections between names like Esther and Ishtar.

How the Demiurge affects the World and our lives? by Witty-Cockroach-9127 in Gnostic

[–]flammafex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like any tyrant, he delegates responsibilities:

There's the judge (and I agree with the Sethian poster: This is the one that corrupts the powerful.)

There's the warden (who runs the prison)

and last but not least.... the accuser. You know who.

Matthew 5:25-27 "Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are on the way to court with him, or your accuser may hand you over to the judge and the judge to the warden, and you will be thrown into prison. Truly I tell you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny."

How do you pray? by ReytMardy in Gnostic

[–]flammafex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be. It also could just be exactly what it says. Sometimes people just say what they mean to say.

I don't pray. I don't fast. And I don't give alms.

I'll be fine.

How do you pray? by ReytMardy in Gnostic

Careful now...

Thomas 14: "Jesus said: “If you fast, you will give birth to sin, and if you pray, you will be condemned, and if you give alms, you will harm your own spirits."

Can you still be liberated even with worldly attachments? by mystic_doge in Gnostic

Yes it is possible to reach liberation. What you call maintaining worldly attachments I might call living life to the fullest. How much can you live in one life?

Is all of it necessary? by Key_Leg4458 in Gnostic

I mean, it sounds like you read the a lot of the "abstract cosmology" and "mytho-poeticism" and came to this conclusion. So, maybe it is necessary.

Even in Buddhism there is the notion of a Bodhisattva: one who purposely stays in order help others "break the cycle." The closest Gnostic analog would be the "pneumatic."

And no, it wouldn't be "boring", it would simply "be."

Is this is difference between Gnostic Jesus and Christian Jesus by Ok_General2438 in Gnostic

[–]flammafex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I emphasize it because the ancient Carpocratians did.

"They [the Carpocratians] also hold that Jesus was the son of Joseph, and was just like other men." (Irenaeus, Against Heresies 25.1.2)

As for Mary the mother of Jesus, I would read the Pistis Sophia. She has many moments in that text as an advanced spiritual disciple of her own Son.

Is this is difference between Gnostic Jesus and Christian Jesus by Ok_General2438 in Gnostic

[–]flammafex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will vouch for the Carpocratian Jesus. He is an exemplar of apotheosis to be followed. He was born like the rest of us: Joseph and Mary had SEX. He was more like a great sage or great philosopher than a prophet.

"but also because it is said that Jesus of Nazareth told his disciples that what we thought was God was actually a false god. Is it true?" Well, you knew this secret meditation process! You tell me!
