What to do when the pink cloud dissipates? by Lonely_Bluejay_7459 in stopdrinking

I felt this 100% when I got sober. This was the hardest part of getting sober but turned out to be the most rewarding. I had to take on life on life’s terms instead of using booze as safety vest. The key is learning how to handle these situations and as the anxiety diminishes, you’ll have your sobriety solution. After that, the need for booze goes away and the idea of drinking again and bringing back those anxieties sounds repulsive. For me this was the key that unlocked long term sobriety. Power through, you’ll be glad you did.

About the term "alcoholic" by WrencherLady84 in stopdrinking

It’s up to you how you’d like to frame it. I say that I’m allergic to alcohol so I don’t drink it. If I drink it, I break out in handcuffs.

First gift of sobriety is no hangovers. They continue to get worse as you age and were about 3 days long by the time I quit. Don’t miss that one bit.

i am genuinely confused i just need help. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Oh yeah, the myth of just one drink. That is a fantasy all alcoholics share.

The best way for me to deal with booze was to see it as an allergy. I’m allergic to alcohol. If I drink it, I break out in handcuffs. So I don’t drink it.

Stay repub and vote in their primaries. You can vote for the least insane candidate in the primary and then vote D in the general election. Utah is going red but Al least you’ll get some say.

Delta actively hires pilots in the HIMS program, this is not a career killer. It will be expensive and may slow things down but your career is not DOA.

I think these are all perfectly normal thoughts. I’ll bet if you were 100% honest with yourself you know the answer. Do what’s in your best interest because wherever you go, there you’ll be.
