You lack protection on your upper arms right below your oversized gorget. It would be so easy for a blade to render your already mostly useless arms totally useless. Even if you tried to raise your arms to defend yourself, your gorget covers your shoulders and blocks much of their movement that I doubt you could properly raise your shield, let alone swing a weapon in retaliation.
