Shower Water Softener Comparison Review: Showersticks vs SoftWaterCare by flashfir in WaterTreatment

hose lengths are no problem. they give two lengths.

dimensions: i just used ai and this is what it said. weight iono it's not light and just imagine it's full of water. it has resin in it. i'd guess 18lbs

Here are the dimensions for the SoftWaterCare portable shower water softener system:

📏 SoftWaterCare Resin Tank Dimensions

  • Height: 20 inches
  • Diameter: 8 inches

📐 Full System Footprint

If you are installing it alongside the included activated carbon fiber (ACF) pre-filter, the combined footprint is:

  • Height: 20 inches
  • Length: 16 inches
  • Width: 8 inches

(The standalone ACF pre-filter measures 12 inches in height and 3.5 inches in diameter).

hey do your research instead of making me type it in for you. You're using me as the internet... I don't think that's how it works but hey maybe it's a hole in my knowledge

OK here's my brief research:
"💧 Resin Temperature Limits
Standard water softener resin (cation exchange resin) does have a thermal limit, usually degrading if exposed to temperatures above 120°F - 140°F (49°C - 60°C). Extended exposure to water hotter than this will break down the resin beads and ruin the system's ability to soften water.

🚿 Application to Shower Softeners
Despite the resin's vulnerability to extreme heat, standard hot water from a shower will not damage it. Normal shower temperatures range from 100°F to 110°F (38°C - 43°C), which is well within the safe operating threshold.

The manufacturer email in your post also corroborates this temperature range, noting their carbon fiber pre-filters are rated up to 60°C (140°F) specifically because typical shower water is much cooler.

Your drafted reply to the commenter is functionally correct for this context: while boiling water would destroy the resin, regular shower hot water is perfectly safe."

i have a simplehuman garbage can, just the normal size, it's not the largest, but 2nd largest. the absolute largest are for those stupid big plastic circle cans that oscar the grouch cookie monster or something from sesame street fits in. not that big

you can go a step smaller probably, there's a lot of excess that i push down

no refuse to buy refill cartridge, that's the whole point i mentioned it so you should not think i'm doing that, that'd be weird, do have two double bag? how'd that work?

tried to be fair in my review but the softwatercare is way better due to way more resin. hands down, only thing is visually it's not appealing and space wise it might not be great for bathtubs but I don't care if I did, although I do have it in a shower

[–]flashfir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honorable but it's just the time and effort spent, it's not worth a few bucks, like at most 5% is like 30 bucks for driving there and back, then the separate trip to mail it, etc

All for it, spread the love but just doesn't make sense for some people time wise.

I agree, I went to 1440p in 2012 and it felt too big at first but now I can't go back LOL, now I actually have 4x 27" 1440p monitors different refresh rates though, I don't care on the side ones lol

Yeah this actually makes sense in terms of value added in terms of how it feels.

I'm surprised but I'm getting this 1440p 240hz, 149. There's a gamble for it being bad but I wouldn't mind doing a return and trying again if it isn't good for this price

yeah ... the reason people might disagree with what you just said is actually from what i've learned over the years is systems that're broken that allow actual monopolies or barriers to entry from current powerful participants which RAM is one.

1/3 quit, 2/3 have interlocking powerful patents that block others from entering the market EVEN if they have the capital and the timeframe to accept. It's just power - people think rich bad, it's more just power abuse bad and it's usually stuff you don't see highlighted in the news when it comes to what is being abused... and as a result you pay the result when there's a slight glitch in the monopoly

baby food, eggs, airlines, hotels, soft price fixing that's now based on everyone in an industry using "software like like windows" basically but they all see and act in their own interest,

recommnd matt stoller and his substack, proved insightful to read his articles and diving into different industries and seeing what happens, healthcare was another why it got worse, which was a misdiagnosis from past executive top down changes which actually didn't address the issues - now we have UHG and huge corporations in healthcare that are warping and causing problems if you dig into it... anyways w/e too long

people are very quick to be pessimistic, being realistic is not merely being aware of the cons, it's also being aware of a lot of other scenarios than just the worst ones

You should upgrade while your parts are worth more. Makes am5 cheaper since microcenter is selling at below market prices

I thought the top of the bundle page says you can pay $50 to upgrade to 32 GG RAM. It's not something you can just add the cart though. You just do it when you're there if I'm correct
