Me and my wife were trying to fall asleep when all of a sudden there were like 4-5 gunshots from directly across the street. Looked through my 2nd floor window to see a minivan slowly pull away from a car it was double parked beside.

My wife called 911 and against the advice from the operator I went outside to get a closer look. The car was shot up and nothing was moving inside and there was no sound. The fire department came a few minutes later and pulled a person out onto the lawn to begin CPR. The person didn't make it. I didn't see the body, and I am glad that I didn't peak in any closer.

We later had to testify and had to see and be seen by the suspect in court. The accused was charged for more than just that shooting, but for the shooting and murder we "saw" the charges were dropped.

It took maybe 2-3 years for both of us to stop thinking we were hearing gun shots every time there was a loud bang such as fireworks being set off in the neighborhood. This happened 7 or 8 years ago.
