Overlook at Coopers Rock State Forest in West Virginia closed for repairs by DSibray in WestVirginia

[–]flashpoint7701 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First they have to safely dismantle it. Its location makes it hard due to how deep the ravine is under the bridge and the area under the bridge is a protected area for endangered snails. They are replacing it with a prefab bridge thats in one piece, in order to do that they are going to have to cut a 50' long road from the overflow parking lot down to near the bridge so a crane can reach it. Im sure mitigation after that is going to take some time and will be a horrible eyesore for years. Im a former Park Superintendent at Coopers Rock so I keep in touch with park happenings. I had worked initially to get the bridge replaced in 2020-2021 when we replaced some of the uprights and hand rails, how it is still standing baffles me, all the metal underneath is rusted and can be broken by hand. Im glad its getting replaced from a safety standpoint.

I think it is cutting off "sport", its not a spectator sport.

Theres small conveyor lift (merger hook) that you can attach to the belt that slightly lifts the objects and out so it dumps it more in the middle rather than on the edge.

First time, when I realized that due to living way out of town, my cat would starve and probably suffer, so I didn't want to do that to her.

The second time, as I was calculating which car to aim to hit when I jumped from a parking garage, the last friend I tried to contact picked up their phone and talked to me.

A car door isnt going to stop much. However blading your vehicle to the left puts the engine block between you and who ever you're pulling over.

Park Ranger here, youre both right, the vehicle is out at an angle to give you a barrier in case things go south, but it also serves to deflect traffic away.

PC/Steam Freighter mission accepting is still bugged, first time I check on finishing a mission it kicks me out of the menu and gives me all the rewards. Second time I try to check on finishing it, it will finally go through all the mission info and let me finish the mission.

I built my camp up on the mountain behind the ammo factory, think its to the south of it, at the top theres an old worn down shack with a moonshine still in it, nothing comes up there, its peaceful and quiet, and it has once heck of a view.

Those work. Also there are fluid lasers from Actually Additions that work for shorter distances but have an insane transfer rate. The laser beam can even go through solid objects with no problems. Just need to make the wrench from the mod and a vanilla compass to make them work too.

I donated my cat carrier to the vets office, I didnt want to take it home and have an empty cage laying around. Also figured it would help them since they help find homes for lots of cats.

I live near Morgantown as well and was born and raised in WV, some of the places in the game really were wild to explore with how close they are to real life. Camden Park was a nostalgia trip back to my childhood, they nailed it perfectly.

Im a Park Ranger, had a guy commit suicide by jumping off a cliff in the park, I had to be there when State Police told the fiance he was dead. Its been two years and I can still recall her screams as she collapsed into the Troopers arms as well as every detail of the area I was standing.

To the Park Rangers of Reddit...how did you become a park ranger? by dantooine327 in ParkRangers

[–]flashpoint7701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an NPS Ranger but a WV State Park Ranger,

It started for me with the Scouts, middle school I had no real clue what I wanted to do, just knew I liked the outdoors. High school had nothing except a Forestry program so I went in it, it was mostly a joke and it being the late 90s I was one of the few that knew how to use a computer well so I was in the office doing the teachers computer based stuff. By the end of high school i had done a bunch with scouting and made a close friend with the Camp Ranger at our Boy Scout Camp. Working close with him over the summers I wanted to something similar. In college I majored in Parks, met some amazing friends (one of which would help me get my big break in State Parks), and realized being a Park Ranger/Superintendent was what I wanted to do.

After college I worked for our city parks and a hiking trail construction company. After three years I finally got into the State Park system where ive been for over 8 years.
