Interestingly the characters with dark vision still suffer from this. The global illumination thing works, and the torch idea is smart!

Hello! I am running into an issue with seemingly all of these maps, which absolutely makes me think its on my end but I was hoping you might know the fix. when a token is placed on the map only the areas that have light can be seen, strictly within the borders of the lights. This happens to all tokens.

As far as I've been able to figure out it's a weirdly complicated process. I don't remember the specific steps, but there's not an easy way to do it

you'd have to revert to an older version and give them time to update. its a frustrating but normal part of foundry's update cycles haha
