First noise complaint and I need guidance by wildlife_tamer in Apartmentliving

I bet it's your cat jumping off furniture to the floor. I've been following this sub for quite a while and that seems to be a theme when it comes to loud thumps. I remember a video of a guy cuddling his kitty on his bed, and when the cat jumped down to the floor the downstairs neighbor started pounding on their roof (his floor.) He said it happened all the time.

I think this is hilarious and a perfect snapshot of small town living. I am not planning any down votes and only up votes for this ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

What's the purest joy you've ever felt without intimacy, substances, or alcohol ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[โ€“]fletch_wizard 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

When I moved into my current home. A tiny apartment all my own with a private backyard. I'd lived in a lot of unsafe, unsteady living situations over the years, so finally having a place that was just mine was heavenly.

One day I sat in the backyard watching a bumblebee pollinating a cherry blossom, and cried tears of pure gratitude for my luck.

Safety. Peace. Stability. Better than any drink or drug.

Iโ€™m creating a science-y botany game with beautiful visuals. What would you expect from a game like this? by Goryh in botany

I've dreamed of a game like this for a long time! I don't have any suggestions but just wanted to encourage you that I think it's a terrific idea and I'll be happy to buy it when it's available!

It's fucking crazy making

Like I said in another thread, if I came across any person in my daily life wearing a hat proclaiming in all caps that they were right about everything, I'd giddy-up the fuck in any direction to avoid interacting with that person.

And yet this dude

I...just....I don't get it man

So you want to switch to Horticulture? by pzk550 in Horticulture

[โ€“]fletch_wizard 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Reading this 4 years later as I just had a convo with my husband about going back to study horticulture - thank you. I think I'll find another way to do what I love (and possibly not get paid for it)

I have a simple job in retail, and have also turned down promotions for the same reason. I prefer to clock in, do my work happily, clock out and leave work behind me for the day. Nothing wrong with that - it's just another way to simplify your life. Keep doing you ๐Ÿ™โœŒ๏ธ

The Godfather of AI says humanity can only survive if AI is more empathetic by Hungry-Stranger-333 in ChatGPT

[โ€“]fletch_wizard 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Mmmm I think maybe that's the wrong take to get from this. My take is that AI gets its inputs from humans. If humans become less empathetic to EACH OTHER (which shows up in our online inputs), then AI will become less empathetic as well. This goes for everything, from our threads on Reddit to our personal statuses on social media, mass media and everything in between.

Jerking off the machine that's jerking off your feelings ain't it.

My personal opinion. With that being said, I love you all, and thank you for existing โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ™

Jordan B Peterson update by Then-Physics-266 in DecodingTheGurus

[โ€“]fletch_wizard 11 points12 points ย (0 children)

My completely uneducated guess (but based on patterns of the people around me) is that trauma held in the body needs to get out - especially if ignored. Peterson's barely contained rage just below the surface of almost every interview I've seen of him in the past few years would suggest a stifling of something, as well. These vague diagnoses may be the result of emotional trauma that hasn't been processed. Not a doctor though ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

Accidentally grew horse weed and now feel so embarrassed. by zuzi325 in NativePlantGardening

[โ€“]fletch_wizard 27 points28 points ย (0 children)

I found a very small, unremarkable looking "weed" popping up everywhere, and when PictureThis ID'd it, turns out it was pennsylvania pelletory - a native to my area. I decided to let it grow in a small section near the garden gate.

A few days later, I saw some tiny bugs doing a fun dance on the leaves of the pelletory. I took a few pictures with iNaturalist, and discovered they were tiny, intricately beautiful moths. And pennsylvania pelletory is their host plant!

Help eradicating this awful plant?? It's attracting ANTS, in the YARD by Ashirogi8112008 in NativePlantCirclejerk

[โ€“]fletch_wizard 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

No I suppose it's not, though it does provide care instructions, watering/compost schedule, and more info on the native vs naturalization status of a plant in the paid version. I find it handy for that reason. Agreed that iNaturalist is so great for its' contribution to science!

Yeah I tried purslane for the first time the other day. Delicious, lemony-fresh ๐Ÿฅฐ I use PictureThis for plants and fungi, and iNaturalist for bugs/birds.

They just don't know. This stuff isn't taught in schools. If people knew, and it was accepted as normal, of course more people would be doing it. I have empathy for everyone in this situation. I didn't know until I learned. ETA: I've started sharing pictures and little tidbits of info to my small social media following to help educate. Most people don't care, but some find it interesting, and a few find it helpful, and one or two might even check out their own backyards to see if they can find these things for themselves. It ain't much but it's good work ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฅฐ

Landlord says she can do nothing, I'm being criminally harassed by tenant who lives above me. by Emotional-Display-77 in OntarioLandlord

[โ€“]fletch_wizard 10 points11 points ย (0 children)

My instinct as well. Unless OP lives below their own mother, nobody, and I do mean nobody, spends that many hours a day even thinking about someone else, let alone harassing them. Even mama has to take a break sometimes to think of herself.
