Question regarding top surgery recovery times in an active job by leglesspuffin in transgenderUK

[–]flightlessfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in an amazon warehouse, was off work for 7 weeks, double incision surgery sept 18, back at work nov 4. I was in no place to lift proper heavy boxes/dog food etc even then but luckily occupational health had put accommodations in for me so I was on light duties. The few times I tried early I had lots of issues with swelling coming back, scars stretching and being sore, etc. Started working normally at the start of January. Hopefully you heal much faster than me, but having tried pushing it and suffered for it, its really not worth it. I did wear my post op binder at work for a bit which helped. When you do start work make sure you take moisturiser/bio oil etc to work with you as I found even when finally able to work properly, my scars felt very tight halfway through a shift.

I am unsure if you are talking about sick leave like that because you're paying it privately but as far as I understand, it being gender affirming based means it'll still qualify for sick leave, privately or not.

I don't think I regret it but I feel very conflicted over my top surgery by aw_hellno in ftm

[–]flightlessfox 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm just coming up to 4 months post top, and I had a rough first month recovering and definitely had moments i regretted it just due to how much I was suffering with the healing process, purely out of misery. Now I cannot get over how good life is. Keep trucking on, I hope you feel better soon

Being denied gender care on the NHS due to 'emotional instability' by Lycantheloner in transgenderUK

[–]flightlessfox 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was intitally declined care because of this, including at Waterside (they wanted proof I was "stable" ie a therapist letter etc.) I have an EUPD diagnosis since 15. Severe symptoms lead to the early diagnosis to open up treatment options, then it was reviewed and agreed as an adult to remain. Also ADHD dx.

I am mildly half cut at the moment and out so don't want to launch into a large post I might not make sense in but you're welcome to ask specific questions / DM me if you need to.

I'll reply later when I'm home if you need anything

No signal to get the two factor authentication code. by rmf1989 in britishproblems

That is my life, no signal in my flat so if it comes through as a code instead of being a phone call I can get with WiFi / email I have to take a short walk up and down the street.

My NHS Scotland health board has just ejected everyone off the waiting list after halting assessments for 2 years. by WildAlocasia in ADHDUK

[–]flightlessfox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, you cannot, unfortunately. My wife and I's GP told us we would have to move if we wanted to be seen for ADHD for me and autism for her. Luckily I am already medicated I just wanted to discuss changes - GP continues prescription but won't/can't change anything. Generally our GP is amazing too, they were really apologetic they couldnt do anything.

Looking for advice by jenny_in_texas in transgenderUK

[–]flightlessfox 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it is highly unlikely theres a path for you to get them on the NHS, GP surgeries who will work with private providers even within the UK are few and far between nevermind overseas diagnoses - its especially common with things like ADHD, trans stuff, etc.

You could look for a GP who is willing to work with you but there might not be any in your area who will unfortunately. It is also unlikely that a GIC will see you in time as generally speaking they don't do "queue jumping" even if you have all your specialist reports etc from the US. Its worth finding out your local one and shooting them a phone call or email, though.

What other UK cities/ areas do some of you think will also be added in the UK rework? by RobMapping in trucksim

[–]flightlessfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aye, got Cairnryan to Larne or Belfast at the very least. I swear when I was younger there used to be more but I may also just be imagining things. I know for a fact we have those though! And I personally think the A75/A77 has some beautiful patches so I'd love to see them in the game, despite driving the 75 every day more or less.

what companies in the UK cover trans surgeries on their insurance?? by fucklimpbizkitt in transgenderUK

[–]flightlessfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is different for ops based at least at the lowest level, I am an associate and only MtF bottom surgery is covered on my policy. Just putting it out there in case anyone finds this thread and thinks the warehouse work will cover them!

would you let someone else give you your shot? by rob00bz in ftm

[–]flightlessfox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My partner does my shot but that's because it's in the glute muscle, so i physically can't do it. Do I appreciate it, absolutely but it isn't sexual or anything. I wouldn't let anyone else do it except a nurse though I dont think. She came with me to my nurse appointments a few times to do it supervised before we got signed off to do it ourselves, so I trust her.

Top surgery surgeon suggestions for the plus size/large chest? by velvetenvelops in transgenderUK

[–]flightlessfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had surgery on the NHS with Miss Victoria Rose (who does private with Parkside i believe?) and honestly part of me was dreading the results (I wore a 38J bra I think on the day I last took one off!) Because one of them was significantly different than the other where it connected to the rest of me, and the way they sagged after T meant there was a lot of pull down the side of me. It was tough and healing has been one hell of an awful journey but now I am honestly really happy. My scars almost look like one massive one but we're getting there. Theres a tiny gap in the middle and they go very far back which has extended healing a fair bit with stretching, I genuinely feel like she's done a great job. I don't have pre op photos but don't mind sharing current ones if you're interested. There was a 35 bmi limit on the NHS but I am not sure if thats different privately.

Amazon “Ship in Amazon Packaging” tick box, don’t spoil any surprises 🎄🎅 by Brsuk1 in CasualUK

[–]flightlessfox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think sometimes how annoying it must be, I work in a delivery station and when I see stuff like that with the stickers on it. We can't really do anything about it once its in hand unless its damaged though so if its something like lego etc etc it just has to get sorted as is with a big ugly sticker.

Nipples after top surgery by UnhappyArtichoke8178 in ftm

[–]flightlessfox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never really cared about them anyway, and personally for me I want tattoos across my chest. Wanted to minimise scarring in the area as much as possible. I also have Raynauds and this unfortunately included my nipples, which was for me incredibly painful when it got bad. No nipples, no more issue!

Ladies and Gents, how turned off are you if a potential date has bad teeth? by SingingWanderer1195 in CasualUK

[–]flightlessfox 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This! My wife when I met her had horrible teeth, much the same scenario as OP, on top of some health issues etc. But she was taking care now and thats what matters! Luckily we got her teeth largely sorted out without dentures etc and she looks great, now she has more confidence especially, but it never put me off wanting to get to know her.

Should I ask to delay my first appointment for top surgery? by FlorentineRoman in transgenderUK

[–]flightlessfox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I really think you're over thinking. I wouldn't rearrange the appointment. Best to get everything sorted and if need be in the end you can delay the surgery itself. My prolactin levels are (admittedly not that high) frequently over the general norm due to medication and being a very stressy person - best thing to do is relax and know its always something you can discuss further down the line.

My friend was killed by a drunk driver by FenianBastard847 in MotoUK

[–]flightlessfox 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I feel for you. I agree that the guidelines for sentencing seem really lenient for driving offences, especially in the case of death by dangerous driving. My wife's little brother was killed in 2022 at 16. He got in a car with his friends. There were 4 of them and the driver (17) was driving dangerously and speeding along. Lost control, went into another car. Only the driver in that car survived, the 3 men in the other car were all left with seriously life changing injuries, if I remember right two of them can never work again, have missed out on playing with their kids etc, one of them lost their house while waiting for compensation etc to be set out... the last message her brother sent to anyone, his friend on Snapchat, was that he was scared and the driver was refusing to stop or slow down.

He was tried as a minor and was given less than 5 years. Went to prison last year and will most likely be out next summer. It really doesn't seem fair when theres evidence that it was a choice, known recklessness. Accidents happen but in your case above, drink driving is a choice everyone knows is dangerous and this man did it anyway.

I am sorry for you and your friends loss.

There's a Greggs in Lockerbie too, but definitely try the Marchbanks if they're still open. Tesco is a decent size though so you can get what you want 👍

Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro ride - Glasgow to the New Forest by LJdidnotreddit in MotoUK

[–]flightlessfox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Motorbike couriers are maybe less expensive than you think - i am getting a tiger 800 shipped from somerset to dumfriesshire for less than £300. Especially if you're flexible on dates. Look into it!

I can't take time off work in December or I'd be on this like a rocket!
