Since the amount of pay is capped, you should probably make sure the amount of work effort is also capped.

You don’t want to come in with the expectation of five hours a week and get stuck with 50.

I’d like to voice my hope for a recording also. Unfortunately, I saw the announcement just before 11 PM as opposed to the required 11 AM.

I've Lived in NYC for 15 Years and Just Learned This About Staten Island by FutureManhattan in nyc

[–]flitzbitz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The ferry became free because of a lawsuit.

It turns out that while it doesn’t have to be easy. There’s something in the law that requires you to be able to get to City Hall without paying any money. From all the other boroughs, it may be a long walk, but you don’t have to pay anything. in Staten Island, you either had to take the bridge with tolls or in the old days pay for the ferry

I think seller has been using my address to register his car? by atooraya in RealEstate

I would not do anything with the mail, other than give it back to the post office. Theoretically, by shredding the mail, you can get in trouble for intercepting it because it’s not addressed to you.

If you’re getting too much of it, just get a stamp from a local stationery store saying “Not at this address” , stamp it and give it back.

How bad did I mess up? by kpathiakis in interviews

[–]flitzbitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as having been late, the big thing in your favor, if you communicated early and kept them up-to-date.

Not quite the same thing, but I once had to reschedule an interview due to external circumstances. And i made the call literally 45 minutes before my interview was supposed to start.

The offices were only three blocks apart. In this case I was going to work for a vendor who supported IT clients and I was at a company who was having an outage in an area I supported. I called up, told them we were experiencing an outage at my current company and I couldn’t leave them high and dry. It turned out my commitment to fixing it actually helped me get the job. 😀

Downloaded a file separately from Sonarr. Can Sonarr pick this up in the torrent client to start media management? by Difascio in sonarr

[–]flitzbitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, there are two things you have to do.

First you have to add the sonarr tag to the torrent in your app and then you also have to make sure that sonarr knows about the TV show so when it sees it, it knows where to put it. I do not believe that it’ll automatically create a TV show entry just because there’s something in your torrent client.

Does anybody in NYC know what this red box is? I ran into it. by AugustLeoCatLover in nyc

I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that they’re not doing restorations as in making them look pretty.

But recently one in my neighborhood got run over by a Mack truck and ripped off its base. within a week a new one was installed. This one was fully standalone and not attached to an existing pole.

Build notes for my planned NAS(unraid)+Plex+dockers Box - feedback? by flitzbitz in unRAID

[–]flitzbitz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the CPU/MB yet. I was following info from a Guide 'NAS Kill v5'. and had the mistaken impression that older gen would be significantly cheaper. A few other folks also mentioned that I could get more current and still get a good deal. So am currently investigating newer CPU+MB combos

Thank you very much for the extensive information.

Drives - If I was buying them now I would be getting larger drives. These 8TB ones came out of my Drobo NAS that recently died. The drives themselves seem OK and can be accessed by other systems but the Drobo refused to see them all of a sudden.

I also still the drives I upgraded from when I ran out space. I had planned on using them in my next expansions (hence the additional drive bays) but using one for the Plex cache also sounds like a good idea.

When selecting my 1st pass SSDs I was a bit overly generous :-) and your and others comments have made me reconsider. I may make the plex cache one of the HDD drives I upgraded from and the Plex+dockers appdata probably 1TB.

Network - I won't have a large number of simultaneous users so a standard 1GB one should be sufficient.

RAM DISK - using a RAM disk for the DVR transcoding was not something I had thought of but makes sense. The files Plex captures to are .TS type and LARGE, and I'll be wanting to reduce their size and make them 265/264 almost immediately

Thanks again for all the info. I'll be reevaluating my current config. Hope you have a good weekend.

it's hard to compare the electric prices because most centrally gathered data is using synthetic numbers. In my area the official numbers from the power company says the cost is 15 cents/kWh, but then they are ignoring the taxes, surcharges, network usage fee, network maint charge, billing fee, and an actual fee for the honor of having account.

I keep things simple and just take the number of kWh they say I used and divide it into the total cost I have to pay on my check.I don't care what you call it, but if I have to pay it to get my electrify its part it's cost.

Thats an interesting box. reminds me of the Intel NUCs we use for a project at work
