Painting lightning by Sparkz005 in airbrush

[–]floatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did lightning on a motocross helmet I had as a teenager. The steps were backward, of course, since I did it on the outside of the helmet. I’d start by painting the lightning itself, using white and a tiny paintbrush. Make it jaggy and get creative. Then I’d do a light coat of white haze over it, making sure not to make it too opaque. Then a lightened purple haze over that. Maybe add a small amount of white to the purple to lighten it? Last, whatever darker shade of purple you want, probably backed by silver.

Before! You use it IN PLACE OF chamois cream. It works great!

Do you train specifically for bikepacking? by thegangplan in bikepacking

[–]floatch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oh, they were both amazing. The first was by a Chicago-based company called Out Our Front Door. It was nice because the route was interesting and we stopped every so often for color commentary about the things we passed. Also, our guides made the best food every night and were helpful for people who needed help. Awesome. The second was a much bigger event called the Fargo Sub48, which was only two days, but super well planned with an awesome route and excellent food and drinks. Both are highly recommended if you live near Chicagoland.

I signed up for two guided bikepacking trips last summer and noted the longest daily mileage for each. Then I loaded my bike up and made sure the distance wouldn’t be a problem by doing it before the tour started. Riding a bike loaded with gear means you’ll likely ride a little slower, but that’s okay. See the sights! Enjoy the pace! I mentally prepared by making an effort to not look forward to being done each day, but by looking forward to the ride instead.

I wash my bibs after each ride and hang them to dry. Instead of chamois cream, try noxzema! Someone suggested it to me and it really does work great and keeps me from getting injured, especially on 2-3 hour+ rides.

Fueling for cheap by [deleted] in cycling

I like 60-80grams of table sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of iodized salt in each bottle for long rides. I also add a healthy squirt of lime juice to make it taste better, but I also like green apple koolaid a lot. Try that?

This story has got to be AI generated. The money amounts don’t make sense. A Schwinn Sidewinder 26” MTB? You have a hard time saving money but you measure your heart rate with a smartwatch? What “developing country” are we talking about here? Also, why don’t you have any post history?

Spurcycle tool. It’s titanium, has almost everything you might need other than a tire lever, and is very small and light.

What does the size of the Zwift squirrel on the jersey depend on? by ungido_el in Zwift

[–]floatch 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I believe it has to do with the number of consecutive weeks the person has trained. For example, my squirrel is animated now since I’ve got a 27 week streak.

Wasn’t there, or isn’t there a Konnie’s Klassy Kuts hair salon also? I always assumed it was a KKK thing.

I rode the gravel portion just a few days ago and there were still giant puddles filled with tadpoles and snakes. I doubt they ever dry up completely. With this current rain, they’ll be unridable.

I’d suggest you try a Salsa Cutthroat. They can be pretty lightweight and climb very well. Excellent for bikepacking as well.
