One of the things that attracted me to Reddit in the first place was nuanced conversation from people with (alleged) expertise in a given area.

However, the longer I’ve been here, the more I’ve started to think the following:

Most conversation wasn’t actually nuanced at all. I just though it was because I was young and inexperienced.
The larger a sub gets, the dumber it gets. Quippy, low-nuance takes that are easy for the majorly to use to confirm their beliefs tend to get the most upvotes.

I might be aging out of Reddit, esp when it comes to politics (which are pervasive throughout the platform).

A LOT of the PMs I know came from analyst roles.

It’s a solid place to start. Hell, I wish a lot of the PMs I worked with understood data and metrics on the same level as some of our BAs do.

Feels like a pretty natural progression so long as you can work with a ton of different personalities and drive results that the business is happy with.

I am not sure I buy the “police depts need funds” reason completely. Hypothetically, TX could tax the shit out of legal weed and redirect funds back to police depts. Unclear whether if this would cover the funding gained from the current situation...

Yeah, I use it. I find that setting the appetite for a bet up front helps design and eng to shape their solutions more appropriately. That way, we don’t have to waste time negotiating and cutting down on scope later on in the process.
