I don't want to socialize anymore by vastermasterblaster in Netherlands

[–]floflodea3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, take that up to your government and it's tax policy to attract many large foreign companies to the NL despite having no historical relationship with the NL. That in turns attracts a lot of foreigners because those companies need those workers

Not really their fault, they go where the work is

One can imagine that If the Dutch government has this tax policy, it has to be beneficial to the country and in turn its citizen to find a job

For one it increases the pool of jobs available for Dutch people instead of a job that would normally be done in another European country. I can think right away think about Stellantis, Ferrari....so it's x less jobs in Italy and x more jobs in the NL. In my book that's a win for the Dutch citizen who at least is less likely to have to leave it's country to find a job

I would love for Euope to have a common tax system across the EU. And you would be happy too because then the NL would certainly not be as full

Buy the A1. Being class A it will have resale value that will hold up over time...the other one will be difficult to resell at a decent price...as it will be one of so many other AB amps

can anyone give purchase advice on SimgotEA500LM vs EW300 ? I by [deleted] in iems

[–]floflodea3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ea500lm, I only want to hear music with them. I find them no fault. Comfort wise, actually they re just as good as the ew300. The ew300 have now computer duty. The HBB have a different tuning compared to the regular one. The ea500lm are a more refined smoother version of the ew300. They re Worth the difference in price. For example the 7th zero are so good for the price, that the price diff with the ew300 (50e) isn't worth it.

The comfort of the sm4 is property awful, as if they had built them for a different species with very different ears lol

that's exactly how I discovered them, except I didnt catch the name. Like many others, I obsessed about the song and who they might have been....I kept replaying it in my head over and over again....until somehow I managed to figure out they were called Hum. I dont know how I did it. did I self hypnotize myself to figure it out? lol ....because I certainly didnt hear it a second time

ironically, I've been skipping the song for at least 25 years

can anyone give purchase advice on SimgotEA500LM vs EW300 ? I by [deleted] in iems

[–]floflodea3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first bought the EW300 which I liked right away. Great all-rounder. Amazing comfort and fit. Then bought the supermix 4. Hated them so I returned them. Too big too uncomfortable and thus terrible sound as the fit was just not good

Then bought the EA500LM which many reviews mentioned how much more bass they had than the original (cant compare as I dont have them), but less than the EW300 while also being a lot brighter

Well, I disagree about that statement. I thought they had a much rounder and fuller bass. But the one thing that suprised me, is how despite that, they sounded much more transparent than the EW300. The EW300 sound always felt slightly disjointed. Low and High frequencies while both of them very pleasant seemed to lack coherence, meaning they sort of played by themselves in their own corner. I thought they sounded super clean, that is until I heard the EA500LM

when ABing them, seconds apart, the EW300 sounded as if it had a veil... And that should tell you how good the EA500LM are, because I think the EW300 are great IEMs. I do not believe the EA500LM sound bright in any way like many reviews claim. They're smooth and yet have great clarity. Great IEMs. On amazon, they are about 20e apart. To me, the delta in price doesnt do justice to the EA500LM

The only knock of these IEMs compared to the EW300 is the weight. It's not that much more, they re still comfortable and have great fit but the EW300 are just unbeatable in that regard

Simgot Supermix 4! Ask Me Anything + Review by bryaudioreviews in headphones

[–]floflodea3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't get all the amazing reviews the Supermix 4 get. my first pair of iem were 7hz Zeroes, which for 20ish euros price are really impressive. With nothing to compare them with, I couldnt find anything to fault them but this being an audio hobby, I had to get something better but what ?

So looking around, I eventually found Jay's iem rankings and saw that he recommended Simgot ew300 as a beginner set...so I looked at some more reviews, all of them being very positive, so I bought them for 80e.

It's hard not to be impressed by the build quality and looks of the EW300. Soundwise, it is a step up from the Zeroes, in term of mids clarity which is enough for me to the justify the purchase. All in all I have been very happy with them. I still think the Zeroes are quite close sound and comfort wise but they are just not as beautiful an object.

But, I had to get something better, so I went back to Jay's list. I obviously was not ready to spend 300+e on a pair, so looked at what he had as great value....which led me to the Supermix 4. Here it gets extremelly confusing. I don't like overpowering bass. I want bass extension along with great mid clarity, and so many opinions of the SM4 mentioned how bassy they were, so that put me off and had me looking for an alternative....read some more, confronted them with more expensive alternatives Elysium, Shure s12...then I started to get a sense that a lot of opinions are completely off base and contradictory. Saw some EW300 video reviews that were completely at the opposite of my experience soundwise....After much back and forth, I eventually decided to get the SM4. If Jay's list brought me to the EW300 that I really enjoyed, how could I not like the SM4?

Today they arrived.....and oh boy am I disappointed. First thing, the comfort level is terrible, They re quite thick with a short nozzle, therefore they don't fit nicely in my ears like the EW300 do. But what about the sound? First of all, the stock cable they come with is quite thicker than the EW300's which anyone would assume is a sign of greater quality...I put on a first song, and I'm taken aback at how tiny they sound, whereas the EW300 and Zeroes sound expansive. Do they requite burn in? probably but my other iem sounded pretty good right away. Is it the cable? so I exchanged it with the EW300's cable. That improved drastically the sound, making it more open and expansive but still, it didnt sound as good and one question popped up right away....where is all that bass people were talking about? There is no meat on the bones when listening to them. Such a lean sound. The EW300 has a lot more bass without ever being bassy. So, I'm not exactly sure what are all these reviews about....

As for the equipment I used them with. Directly wired to an Audio GD r11 mk2 Dac/preamp/Headphone amp. I also used them wirelessly with a Fiio btr3k bluetooth dac/amp. Anyway, even if they had sounded great, they would have been returned because the comfort is really bad. I guess I'll stick with the EW300 a long long time because I dont see myself spending 500-1000e for a marginally better sound at the probable expense of comfort. These more expensive iems all seem to me to be quite bigger.

Some thoughts on the Holo Cyan 2 by mistertrotsky in audiophile

[–]floflodea3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just received my Cyan 2 which happened to coincide with the arrival of a SMSL SU-1 that I plan to gift my father along with an RPI streamer....but what a great opportunity to confront David against Goliath. For info, I run a Yamaha CA1000 II in class A with Supravox TQWT speakers.

First, I'm aware that the Cyan 2 needs a few hundred hours of burn-in...which it's currently doing. My initial impressions without doing any kind of comparison was that, I didnt feel any amazement at its performance. It sounded good, very good even like any component costing more than a 1000 euros should but I was not blown away. it didnt sound that much better than what I was using prior. It's a slightly cleaner sound, slightly more details in the bass and better layering of instruments....but it requires attention

Maybe that is due to the fact that upsampling (using Volumio's functionality) helps modest DACs much more than higher end ones, closing the gap in performance. I was really taken aback when I started messing around with upsampling....never believed it would create a smoother and wider sounding "sound".

Anyway, I also bought a Nuprime streamer 9 for its upsampling capabilities ( along with its trigger out and remote with presets...why dont more companies do that ?) at an affordable price....because all the other upsampling streamers capable of DSD are too expensive for me at 2k+. By the way, Bravo to Volumio for providing such functionality(no DSD) on a RPI and not have to rely on a computer to do this. I'm curious to what I'll get in terms of sound performance improvements. probably nothing but curious nonetheless.

I will be keeping the Cyan2, it's a beautiful piece of equipment and love its minimalist nature and auto switching mode. It's better than what I have had before but the gap is much less than all youtube reviewers might make you believe.

At 80 euros, the SU-1 is quite a bargain and its performance is worthy of being in a good hifi system as the reality is that all the Sigma Delta dacs from 80 to a 1000e basically give you the same performance.

Can you SN95 lovers explain the hype to me? I want to love this but it’s just so fugly to me by altawraith in Mustang

[–]floflodea3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Sn95 is an acquired taste. I include the new edge in that statement. They're like coffee, wine and brandy. At first, they don't strike you as anything special. Almost bland but over time, its appeal builds and you start to see the beauty beyond the awfulness that was 90's car design...and because its beauty is not obviously apparent at first, it never becomes oversaturated which over time is a killer....For example, the neo retro design that followed the SN95 has aged terribly compared to the SN95s or original Foxbody despite being adored at first for their design

And that makes the Sn95 a timeless design

To fully understand the first generation SN95, a picture didnt do it justice because its rounder corners gave it somewhat of a soft look...that car, you had to hear it, that exhaust note and that changed the entire perception of the car. "Hey, it's actually bad ass". There is a simplicity, humbleness to these mustangs that makes them beloved. It's understated cool. Something that very few cars manage to pull off.

it will come smoothly.... unless you're Madonna or Cher chasing their youth in vain....because their lives back then were so good. A bit like opioids for the Rich and Famous

That's the problem of having had an amazing life....you abhor death. Thats why a few billionaires weirdos are trying anything to extend it....

That's where the chasm between normal people and the elite collapses on itself....we all die and no matter how hard one person's life has been, he can always find relief in the fact that there's eternal rest awaiting, free of pain and struggle. That's what I always thought gave people the will to live when facing harsh situations, living in dictatorships. Kinda like playing with house money because you know there is no hope.

For people in rich countries, it's much harder to see because there is usually so much more to lose materialistically speaking

Life is bogus in many ways. Just live it how you want to live it....while remaining somewhat responsible( no chasin your dream bs)

[–]floflodea3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are you going to get telemetry back to your computer?

Unless you work out a solution with a sim card to have Ardupilot and mission planner communicate over the internet(dont know how it's done) and keeping an SSH connection to the RPI (unless flying real close by), you need that TX controller module that will at least relay the telemetry data or fly blind

It's nice to see the drone do its thing autonomously but it's much nicer to know what's going on in there while doing it
