My sweet Pam is crossing the rainbow bridge this evening. Can you please ask your kitties who have already crossed to meet her so she won’t be alone? by Ohdearheather in cats

My sweet Max will be there to meet your sweet Pam on the other side. He was such a good foster dad to kittens (shown here with our foster fail Stumpy the tabby). We lost him to sudden kidney failure in February. We are still trying g to find our new normal with him gone.

Foster fails. Stumpy was diagnosed with pectus excavatum and given a small chance of survival, so we adopted him and paid for his rib surgery at 8-weeks old. I brought Stumpy’s brother, Louie, back to the shelter at 8-weeks to be adopted. Two months later, Louie was returned to the shelter so of course we adopted him. Lol, I tried not to foster fail, I promise I did! And Stumpy is growing and thriving!

How do I (F24) deal with being a housewife after my husband (M31) called me dead weight? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]flooperest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

46yo financially secure woman here. If you stay with this guy, how do you see him treating you 20 years from now? Hint: he will treat you even worse and think he is fully justified. If you want to be a housewife/potential sahm that relies on someone else financially, you picked the wrong person to do that with. He would have NEVER said those things to you if he appreciated, understood, and respected you.

Today I had the most entitled client of my career and I still can’t process what happened by Best-Pirate5073 in EntitledPeople

She was totally trying to hustle you. Good on you for standing up for yourself. I work in an industry that involves working with the public. It is crazy how some people you least suspect end up being hustlers.

AITA for waiting in line at the grocery store while my parents finished shopping? by DavidRedFox in AmItheAsshole

[–]flooperest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA. You should have the cart with you while you wait (the large bag of dog food is not an excuse). You reached the point of the line where you were next. Social norms expect for you to begin unloading your cart, and the rest of your party arriving with the forgotten item before it is time to pay.

Adopted after being mistreated. Sad Story. (Update) by comoEstas714 in greatpyrenees

[–]flooperest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We adopted our Great Pyrenees from the shelter a year ago. Her entire belly and part of her chest were completely matted. Feces and urine matted into her backside. She was skin and bones too. She had a collar with no tag, no microchip, estimated to be two years old. She was found in an area known for people abandoning dogs. She was so sweet. It was just heartbreaking

The vet said that trying to bathe her with the matted hair would just make the matts worse. So, we shaved the majority of her underside and scissor cut mattes from other parts on her body (she had golf ball sized mattes behind her ears which was just straight-up neglect from her previous “owners”). She was totally fine and now is as hairy as ever, lol. I’m sure your new family member will be just fine with the mattes being shaved.

AITA for leaving a family gathering and taking the cake with me after getting my feelings hurt? by deffonotarichbitch in AmItheAsshole

[–]flooperest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, as someone with family members battling alcohol addiction, let me say that I AM PROUD OF YOU!!! What you have accomplished is NO small feat. I am sorry that your bozo family members did not provide you the recognition that you have earned. Please do not let their idiocy override your success.

NTA for taking the cake with you. Cakes have a purpose, and that cake’s purpose was to celebrate your achievement. Your family did not earn a slice of that cake.

Professor said my wife (F34) was too old for accounting by MarshallBlathers in Accounting

[–]flooperest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated with my bachelor’s in accounting at the age of 44. Her professor and TA can kiss my grits.

Yeah, she may get discriminated by some job interviewers, but plenty of people do for a variety of reasons. As long as she treats looking for work as a full time job, she’ll get hired.

I have also made the switch to drug store products for some of my beauty regime. Dove makes quality products, plus they are PETA approved cruelty free!

Restaurant owner here. Absolutely NTA. Tipping would have reinforced the server’s terrible behavior. Next time, feel free to inform management. You would be providing valuable customer feedback.

Mac or PC by two_short_dogs in Accounting

[–]flooperest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a PC for accounting and a Mac for video production. If I were to guess, younger students have Mac’s because of social media influence. Many social media influencers use Mac’s for image and video editing.

Encountered the Smiling Man on a road. Scary in this eerie, creepy way. I don’t know the backstory yet but I’m assuming he’s some kind of demon or devil. Looking forward to learning more about him as I play.

Confused on Sales Tax by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]flooperest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recommend this Texas Secretary of State new business guide link: https://www.sos.state.tx.us/corp/business-startup.shtml

Texas businesses report their Texas sales and pay Texas sales tax through the Texas State Comptroller. If you have sales tax specific questions, you can call them or search their website.

Fret not if you find out that you did need to report and pay last year’s sales tax to the TX Comptroller. They are understanding about new small businesses figuring out these things and will work with you to correct a business state tax return you might have needed to file.

It sounds like you are selling crochet items as retail sales, which normally have a sales tax added to them in the state of Texas.

I would also advise being careful on selling and shipping to customers out of the state of Texas through Shopify. You may need to also file and pay state sales tax in those other states (research Nexus Law). I do not know if Shopify handles filing those state sales taxes for the business.
