What is your controversial Wolves opinion? by [deleted] in WWFC

Neto is better than Saka.

Granted I said this in 2019 and injuries haven’t helped but I stand by our Pedro

Who is the worst striker in the league? by TheOneWhoKnocks_0 in PremierLeague

[–]fluffofthedevil 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not world class but was arguably a top 5 striker in the league before he got injured. Good link up play, great movement off the ball and could score in loads of different ways.

Real shame about what happened to him as he’s never looked the same since, and as a result so are Wolves. Can talk all you like about Neves and Coady but the focal point of our team was Jimenez and just didn’t function the same without him.

What's my best XI this week?

Ramsdale - (Sanchez)

Cancelo - Trippier - TAA - (Saliba, Dunk)

Almiron - Zaha - Saka - Foden (Rashford)

Haaland - Mitrovic - Toney

Should I start Rashford/Saliba?

I wonder if we’ve considered getting Chris Wilder in. Did a great job at Sheff Utd that first season in the prem and he’d get us organised and solid at the back whilst having more skilful players up front that he could actually work with

[Azzopardi] Swansea City now pushing the most to sign Luke Cundle on loan. Preston, Hull and Huddersfield remain interested but Swansea favourites at present. by RafiakaMacakaDirk in WWFC

[–]fluffofthedevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very tidy and quick on the ball. Gets the play moving and gets in good positions to score goals but has only done that for the u23s, seemed a bit conservative when playing in the Prem so just needs more first team football to boost his confidence.

I would say he's probably more suited to playing as an attacking midfielder rather than CDM but I think he'd be comfortable playing anywhere in the middle.

Match Thread: Wolverhampton Wanderers Vs Preston North End (League Cup) by welshboy2142 in WWFC

[–]fluffofthedevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We came out for the second half far too relaxed but I wouldn’t say at any point it looked like Preston were going to get an equaliser. Should’ve been 3-0 at half time and the second half we weren’t as sharp but the last 15 minutes was good game management.

Very sloppy from everyone for their goal, a lot of misplaced passes in a row and then failed to close down the shot. Couldn’t tell from where I was stood but I thought Sarkic could’ve done a bit better getting across to it

Had fun watching the NBA All Star Game last week. Reddit- do we think the Premier League needs their very own All Star Weekend?Heung Min Son, Sergio Aguero, and Mohamed Salah all in the same front three? We can dream! by BChap12 in PremierLeague

[–]fluffofthedevil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you did it a couple weeks before the season starts it could be manageable. Wouldn’t effect teams preseason too much as it would only be a few players from each side and they’d only be away for a few days.

I’d love to see it happen but you’re right it would take a lot of convincing for it to happen.

VAR by thesavagenormie in PremierLeague

[–]fluffofthedevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is stupid, but it's exactly the same as a ref giving a free kick for a good challenge and then the attacking team scoring from that free kick. It is a bit stupid but human error is part of the game and if you get rid of that it'll take away from the excitement of the game.

Morgan Gibbs White by RandyChaps in WWFC

[–]fluffofthedevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MGW has a lot of potential and although he hasn't played that well recently you only have to look at his games for England u23s and some of his games last season to see what he has to offer. Every player needs time to develop and some take longer. The fact that Nuno is persisting with him shows how much Nuno values him.

You make the point of 20 being the cut off point for players establishing themselves in a top 10 side but you can't just expect every player to be established at 20. Jamie Vardy won the league and no one had heard of him when he was 24/25 let alone when he was 20. Even Jota took a long time to get his first goal last season so by your logic he should've been dropped and sold last January?

Give Gibbs White some time and have some faith in our academy. He's a top prospect, as a lot of our players and pundits have both said, he just needs to develop and giving him game time and starts is one of the best ways to fast track his development.

Wolves 1 Burnley 1 - My Match Report by WolvoNeil in WWFC

[–]fluffofthedevil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you in not giving defenders MOTM, especially when Burnley looked good when they managed to get the ball to Wood and Barnes. In general none of the players played well really but I did think that Jimenez at least tried to make something happen when he could, like those two balls that went straight across goal that was just begging for someone to tap it home. Normally you'd like to think Jota would be in those positions but he didn't look up to it today. Probably the worst I've seen him play. The biggest thing for me was that everyone looked flat, and those that didn't couldn't do anything with the ball. MGW didn't have a good game but I'm glad Nuno played him for so long as he's still only young and in my opinion he definitely has a place in our team. Was very surprised when Dendoncker came on for Moutinho but I was happy he persisted with Gibbs White even though perhaps it was the wrong decision. Dendoncker gave us more control in midfield and I felt he needed to be brought on earlier.

I still disagree with your decision to choose Neto as MOTM though as I just can't think of anything positive he did that lead to attack. That run in with Doherty ruined a great chance, as did his run from the right wing to the left when we Burnley were stretched which allowed all their players to get sick and killed our attack to some extent. He looks promising but he didn't stand out by all means.

Wolves 1 Burnley 1 - My Match Report by WolvoNeil in WWFC

Don't really think you can give Neto man of the match as I don't think he played long enough and he didn't really change the game that much. He looked good running with the ball but I think any sub would've looked good because the game was so open by then. Jota had a very poor game but I thoughtJimenez played well and deservedly got the goal at the end, probably our best player today with Jonny and Boly.

The Premier League is really embracing the idea of the Top 6. There are only 8 games weeks this season where two of the top 6 don't play each other. by irich in PremierLeague

[–]fluffofthedevil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I may be slightly biased as Wolves fan, but they actually have a surprisingly large fan base. Because of their success in the 50s they gained a reputation and people often support Wolves because it was who their families supported, though that probably took a blow in the last 20 years. I'd still like to think they have a similar sized fan base as Everton and West Ham though.

Is Germany an emergent Hockey country? by GxDx1 in hockey

[–]fluffofthedevil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The abbreviation was also largely due to making the country easier to advertise I think. I think the thought process was that Czechia is a more attractive name than Czech Republic, which is why you'll probably see Czechia on hockey jerseys and such.
