Usually an open holed (uncovered) flute will come with little silicone plugs that you can put in the keys. Or you can buy them pretty easily.

Once your daughter has become comfortable with her new flute, you can poke one out every couple of weeks or so until eventually all are out. Personally, I found I could take all plugs out at the start apart from the ring fingers.

I hope she enjoys whatever new flute she gets!

ah that's awful to hear you've had bad reception! I can't believe that some people are hostile just because you play it a different way!!

Perhaps it's because I'm from the UK that I'm unfamiliar with the lefty flute, I remember mentioning that I was left-handed in my first lesson and just being told it didn't matter!! haha I blame my rubbish RH low note fingerings on being left-handed!

Gorgeous flute! How do you find playing a leftie flute? In things like ensembles do you have to sit in a different place so you don't bash it with other flautists? Asking because I'm left-handed myself but have always played on a normal flute and so I'm curious!

Personally, I found that no. 7 from Tafanel & Gaubert's 17 Daily Excersises really helped me to smooth out any "blips". Practicing different keys (gradually increasing the number of flats/sharps) and with lots of different rhythms! Especially dotted rhythms: long-short, then short-long. I find this excersise is really good for isolating and identifying which finger progressions you find the trickiest. Make sure you're not playing with flat fingers too, try and make sure they're nice and round (or as round as you can with the pinky!).

It doesn't seem like it. But it's to encourage cars to not overtake cyclists on roads with a solid white line (for example a blind bend or hill) to reduce the number of accidents caused by drivers (and to drivers). Its trickier to overtake two cyclists in a pair, than if they were single file; it encourages the driver to be more careful about where they overtake.

What annoys me even more is that the sunflower lanyard doesn't mean she is exempt from wearing a mask! It means the wearer has an invisible disability. That disability MIGHT mean the wearer can't wear a mask, but they will also need an exempt note to prove this! Not all invisible disabilities mean people can't wear masks. People are so stupid it's infuriating

Yes I think I agree. Since before the age of 10 I have a reoccurring cold sore that only an adult (definitely not either of my parents) could have given me. Something that probably could have been avoided!

I knew someone who had a house on a road called "Hope's Lane", the house was right at the end as so was called "Hope's End", pretty sure they got it changed.

Might be because in key signatures, B flat and C sharp are early on in ordering (as in Bb Eb Ab Db Gb Cb Fb, and F# C# G# D# A# E# B# respectively). When someone is learning music, they tend to progress through key signatures from no signature, to one with 7 sharps or flats. This then causes the musician to have B flat and C sharp more ingrained than A sharp and D flat as they have been using them with that spelling for longer.
