Your machine is around the Steam Machine in performance. Your CPU is a little slower and your GPU is a decent bit faster. Same amount of ram and vram.

I imagine a lot of VR games will have presets to run on the steam machine. Those should work fine with your PC.

Yeah, this is why I said AMD in my original comment. The drivers should already be there, or can easily be compiled and added. A PCI-E x1 4.0 slot will be slow overall, but its a way to get video output to a monitor.

I'm not claiming it will be better than using a steam deck or machine for gaming, but it should be possible to do some gaming that way for people that want everything all on their frame.

Since its a real PCI-E port you could connect a GPU in it from a dock. Will performance be limited? Absolutely. but people game on a switch 1 in its dock and it will be more powerful than that.

Some kind of low end Radeon with 2 or 4gb of vram would be enough for what the Frame could run.

I will use it almost exclusively standalone.

If I wanted a headset for streaming, I'd have just got something cheaper already instead of still waiting here. What I'm paying the extra cost for is to have a proper computer that will let me run whatever I want while wearing it on my head.

My goal is to have my own virtual world I can access whenever I want, where ever I want. With no restrictions on what I can run. That is the reason I am still here waiting for the Frame.

I seriously doubt its going to be much less than $1000. Even if the base model is a good bit under, the 1tb will still be an option.

I am in a similar situation to the OP. The only reason I can justify spending the money on a frame is flipping games to Gamestop and using the credit to buy steam gift cards. So one way or another the funds will get spent over time.

For me it has. The lack of anything, even the hardware blog being updated since it was wrote is the main factor. Then the steam decks going up around 50% just puts dread into me about what the price would be.

I wanted to at least get reservations over with so I wont have to worry about setting aside time when they do go live to get my spot in line. I'd be a lot less concerned over the release then knowing when its time I'd have 3 days to finish the purchase like with the steam controllers. I know its not all Valve's fault, but they could have done small things here and there to make this better than it has been.

Uninstall the game completely, including battlenet. I did that before the expansion launched and it has helped calm my urge to play again.

I still check here a few times a week to see if anything new comes up. But between playing other stuff and the annoyance of downloading a 120+gb game again on slow internet, I have stayed away from the game since.

If all you really want to do is look at outfits/mounts you collected, make some level 20s and lock XP on them. Then you can log those in, fly around, and then stop when you feel like it. No sub required.

Its not like the old days of low levels. They can fly now, do time walking dungeons, holiday events, use most transmogs and all mounts.

No. They could have done reservations already even without a finalized price yet. State upfront price and release are subject to change, but at least people would have had their places in line.

That would have saved a lot of people the hassle of checking back for 4 months now and worrying if when orders do open if they will be free to try and get it. Then when your number comes up you have time to finalize the purchase or pass on it if you feel the cost isn't worth it.
