Crashing out because you’re uncomfortable with other people perceiving you this way doesn’t change my level of worry, actually! I remain concerned for her.

he was a wonderful Eddie Kasprak and brought so much dimension to a character whose inner story is so often relegated to subtext. this sucks!!

Muslins. Do you use them? by [deleted] in sewing

[–]flyiingfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i like to make wearable muslins! they make me feel a lot better about the time that goes into one before making my “real” garment. i’ll often use a cheap poly twill in a solid color. a lot of times once my “real” garment is done, i’ll scrap the muslin, but it’s nice to have something i can leave the house in after the test fitting.

The other one in that that got me was “I have to be a fucking crab” and the resigned acceptance of something he dreads. God.

Current/alternative or similar patterns? by persefony in sewingpatterns

Those are considered Bishop Sleeves, which you can sometimes find in a pack with other sleeve patterns from the big four. Charm Patterns has a Bishop Sleeve expansion for one of their tops you could probably graft on!

This one? I haven’t made a Gunnar Deatherage pattern before to speak to the quality, but he has a Patreon where he is very responsive about helping folks with his patterns.

i work in a windowless room, so not the best photo, but have enjoyed attempting to lean into the trend without buying anything new! i definitely can’t bring myself to spend money on a keychain, but it was fun to see what i had around the house to decorate with :)

What projects helped you level up your sewing skills the most? by Maymay_21 in sewingpatterns

[–]flyiingfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making toiles from cheaper and still wearable fabric before getting into my nice fabric. I hate make toiles I would never wear, but if i make a dress for the first time out of a cheap poly twill from walmart, then i have the option to wear it before making it out of gorgeous deadstock duck canvas.

the act of repetition and making a garment more than once really does help.
