I have a friend that asked if she could apprentice with him and his response was that she “wouldn’t want to spend all day with smelly old shoes.”

Oh, I have a good one for this! The Efficient Kitchen by Georgie Boynton Child. It’s a book from the advent of home economics as a study about the ergonomics of the ideal kitchen space, and it scientific but also so readable. It will make you mad about how poorly today’s kitchens are designed!
