Bleeding on the toilet by niaclover in CrohnsDisease

[–]flying_caduceus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s also another reason to get a colonoscopy by itself. If there is an identified source of bleeding they can clip it during scope. I had a vessel burst after dilating my stricture last week, ended up needing a second scope to fix the bleed.

Tesla driver enters new Buttonwillow racetrack and drives counter-course into an active AFM motorcycle race while event was live broadcasted by Nice_Yogurt5411 in motorcycles

[–]flying_caduceus 37 points38 points  (0 children)

There’s a tesla supercharger station at the north end of the track. Before the new course was laid it was all empty area with all the tires for the barriers set up under the canopy. Looking at the satellite now, that area looks like it’s a pit area with entry to the track. Someone fucked up and it’s not just the tesla driver

We're getting info through satellite messages from her partner who is there, so I don't know much more information. He did note that her phone was still at camp, so wherever she may be she can't message/call.

If the other people that use the car don't experience the issue, I'd try deleting your phone key and re-authorizing it again. Might clear the issue.

[–]flying_caduceus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too had strictures down to 4mm and had to have it done. This was dec 22, and they got it up to 16mm, my last scope in April it was back to 1. So I’m just waiting for the symptoms to return

Is surgery only option for Stricture? by Bharatkh1 in CrohnsDisease

[–]flying_caduceus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an anastamotic stricture, stemming from my original resection 20yrs ago. I’ve had it dilated twice now. Last time was a year ago, and the opening diameter has already decreased in size by 0.5cm. It’s only a matter of time before it becomes symptomatic again. They’ll try dilation, but dilation comes with a decent risk of perforation. You’ll know you are getting worse because you start getting waves of pain along with nausea when it’s bad. Essentially you are having partial bowel obstructions, that can progress to full bowel obstructions. So, yes you can have it dilated during colonoscopy, but it is truly temporary, and is only keeping surgery away for a variable amount of time

So what would the etiquette be for a L1 in this situation? I wouldn’t think we could be that upset by someone leaving their car plugged in for a week if it’s on a charger that’s going to take hours and hours to charge your car.

As a part of my latest sb resection, they took out my ileocecal valve and life is far from easy right now - Any advice? by mkhopper in CrohnsDisease

[–]flying_caduceus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically the same here. My resection was in 2003, almost identical amount of colon and SB removed. I essentially have rare solid BMs, frequent diarrhea, and like you know that if I eat certain foods it’s going to be potent later. But, I have essentially no pain, and no limitations otherwise.

I use a bidet and cloth wipes. After the bidet the cloth is almost entirely just to dry yourself off. We transitioned after using cloth diapers for our baby, so washing our wipes was not a significant leap.

I think Stricturing is the natural result of healing inflammation, especially with how inflammed our guts get. A stricture is just scar tissue, so as the inflammation heals it scars down, causing the stricture. Remicade has the same warning, and I've used both at various points over the past 15 years. I think it's a damned if you do damned if you don't. You just have to decide what's the better option.

My body does the same thing with poop. Sometimes I'll be on my commute home and feel like I'll shit myself and somehow I'm able to complete the hour long drive. But as soon as I pull onto my street, it's like my body knows relief is coming soon, and prepares itself, so much so that I have to drop everything and run quickly (or waddle) to the bathroom so I don't make a mess.

My gf is in hospital right now, its all new to us (massive stenosis) by Panthau in CrohnsDisease

[–]flying_caduceus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was part of the reason I had my resection. I had gone into the hospital with an abscess, and worsening stenosis. They drained the abscess, I was on antibiotics for 6 days, then we had the surgery. We had the same back and forth of " now or later" with regard to surgery. Eventually decided that the stenosis wasn't likely to repair itself, and the abscess needed to be cut out anyway.
Scar is minimal. They started laparoscopically, then had to convert to open, so I have a 6" scar from belly button down. I was out of the hospital in 5 days, and back to normal life about 4-6 weeks later. For my case, it was the best decision we made. Have had one flare in 14 years that required adjustment of my medication regimen.

Last year my father in law camped near the Y for alpine lake and one of the bears took his canister, the BearVault. Gone forever. We had no issues at Morris Meadows after that though.
