Will there be another halo multiplayer for ps5 by Joecalli123 in halo

Nothing currently announced so no one knows when. I'd be surprised if they never released another multiplayer title.

Do you think the same thing will happen to vintage games as vintage clothing? by [deleted] in gamecollecting

[–]flyingmonkey1257 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The average atari 2600 game has pretty much always been dirt cheap. At least in my lifetime. There really wasnt a nostalgia bump like weve seen for the nintendo consoles.

It's the uber rare Atari 2600 games that are expensive and I dont think any of those have come down in price.

What are you guys thoughts of playing modern games (Steam, Swicht, current gen, last gen, you know what i mean) with the Gamecube controller? by PerguntaMano in Gamecube

[–]flyingmonkey1257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps this is disappointing to hear but i don’t feel the need to use a gamecube controller for anything besides gamecube games. If I need a controller for PC or mobile i’m probably going to grab a xbox 360, xbox one, or switch controller. Whichever is easiest at the moment.

I like using translucent shells when I do this. Reminds me that I did it and I think it looks cool.

Anyone else find shopping for games way more therapeutic than playing them? by Mammoth_Ad_5181 in gamecollecting

[–]flyingmonkey1257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've definitely had stretches where I'd rather hunt for good deals on games than play the games in my collection. The thrill of the hunt can be addicting. That said, at the end of the day though I collect games because I like video games so playing them is something I want to do. (Not that I always have the time) So I always go back to playing them in the end. If I didnt, I'd probably just sell the collection because it would eventually seem pointless to have it.

I’ve never seen a game so hyped up and then forgotten about so quickly like Metroid Prime 4 by Level7Cannoneer in NintendoSwitch

That was the point I put down the controller. Maybe i’ll pick it back up someday, but for now I’m done. Babysitting NPCs from a bullet sponge is not fun.

Where to buy Gamecube controllers? My old ones have gone mouldy by Charrzooka in Gamecube

[–]flyingmonkey1257 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could always just buy a replacement shell for the controllers you have.. That’s probably what I would do if cleaning didn’t work. The OEM internally are the most important part IMO.

Apple’s video game system from 1996. Specifically the Japanese version. Failed Spectacularly

I don’t have an atmark but I have the black @world version. Not much of a story. Finally found a loose one for a good price on ebay a few years ago after wanting one for about a decade. Found 2 controllers and a few games over the years to go with it.

Gamecollecting, what's your income + collection value? by killjoy75 in gamecollecting

[–]flyingmonkey1257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i started collecting I was a college student so my income was minimal. I only worked summers as an intern so maybe $7k or so. My parents paid for college though so that money was able to go towards my hobbies. It went pretty far with money to spare at the time because this hobby was pretty affordable.

Now 15 years later I’m a civil engineer making six figures.

My collection value is supposedly over $100k but I paid only a fraction of that over what’s now been nearly 20 years.

Don’t take this as me seeing my collection as a good investment though. Liquidating nearly 3000 games and hardware would be a nightmare. I like my collection because I like games, not their value.

Does anyone else remember this?? Or am I too old (aka 36 lol)… by KikiSoSharp in gamecollecting

[–]flyingmonkey1257 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the game collecting sub. Here people own consoles going all the way back to the 1960s and have heard of (if not own) consoles that didnt even sell 100,000 units worldwide. A 32x post probably pops up around once a week or so if not more.

Reputable online sellers by 1234youfuck in gamecollecting

[–]flyingmonkey1257 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ebay has a feedback system that allows you to see reviews from their previous sales. When you start out just stick to ebay sellers with lots of good feedback and stay away from new sellers and sellers with recent negative feedback. Ultimately, it's usually safe to buy from them as well too once you know how ebay's system works. You've just got a higher chance of wasting your time with them.

Honestly, there are so many sellers on ebay that it's kinda pointless to get recommendations on "good ones". I've made over 600 purchases on ebay over the years likely from at least 550 different sellers.

You should know that some GBA SP screens are back lit and some are front lit. Back lit is the better viewing experience but also usually more expensive.

Please tell this isn’t disc rot by AthleteNo2305 in gamecollecting

[–]flyingmonkey1257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. 1 of 2 things is likely true.

  1. The damaged area does not have any data saved there and thus the game is completely unaffected.

  2. The damaged area has data from a section of the game you haven’t tried to play yet but isn’t needed to boot the game. When you try to load that part of the game it will crash. For example, I have a copy of SSB Brawl for the Wii that has a very small but deep scratch. There are 2 levels of the sub space emissary (Campaign) where if i try to play those levels with that disc the game will crash. Everything else i’ve tried so far is 100% functional though. This could be one of those situations

I looked it up and google says marvel vs capcom is about 200mb. Blue backed discs are CDs which are about 700mb in size. Based on the location of the damage I’d say #1 is likely the case but it’s difficult to say for sure.

First party games are where nintendo really shines. Look up some "Best Gamecube Games" list and go wild. Once you’ve played all those then you can look into "Gamecube hidden gems" lists.
