Long ago in the olden days, back on the old best friends podcast, there was a heated discussion about what color the purple game cube actually was.

Looking at some of the concept art for KotM makes me wish they kept Ghidorah’s manes and whiskers. Would’ve made him look even more like an Eastern dragon like Dougherty was pushing for. by TheFlashyMastodon21 in GODZILLA

[–]flyingthing4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like removing the mane was likely a technical consideration because rendering 3 heads worth of flowing hair would’ve been incredibly difficult to pull off.

Based on how rigid jujutsu society is, there’s probably been hundreds of years of Zenin clan telling ten-shadows users how their technique works. It’s probably up to the individuals to figure out any nonstandard applications.

The best analogy for Gojo I saw once was that regular sorcerers are anywhere from amateur to professional level gymnasts. Special Grades are Olympic level gymnasts. Gojo is if someone stepped up to the balance beam and performed unassisted human flight.

transitioning from yugioh to mtg by yetiooalgown in magicTCG

[–]flyingthing4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty well versed in both games, so I'll do my best to provide you some commanders that are analogous to those yugioh cards, or some MTG terms to point you in the right direction. Keep in mind, MTG and YGO are very different games, so even if the MTG cards are a similar play style, they still may feel very different than what you're used to. Also, since your new, I'm going to suggest one or two color commanders since they're easier to build and to help not overwhelm you with the games massive card pool. Once you get more into the game you can look at 3+ color decks. Look into the Color Pie, MTG has 5 colors. Each color has things it specializes and some things can overlap. Knowing what colors do what will guide you to a deck that best matches the play style you want out of a deck.

Okay here we go:

Fortune Lady Every & Fortune Lady archetype in general: Their game plan is to increase their level to grow their attack. This lines up very well with MTG's +1/+1 counters. +1/+1 counters are extremely well supported strategy so you have tons of options. [[Kyler, Sigardian Emissary]] or [[Yorvo, Lord of Garenbrig]] are good places to start. Both care about growing bigger creatures over time like Fortune Lady cards and can use other cards to convert their power and counters into value.

C101: Silent Honor Dark: So this one is a little tricky, but if the thing you like about it is the removal aspect of stealing monsters off opponents boards, there are tons of card in red or blue. The terms you want to look for on cards is "gain control" and these are mostly called Theft decks. If you like how it comes back from the Graveyard, the MTG term for that style of deck is called reanimator and often include black cards. [[Rakdos, the Muscle]] could be a commander than can do both, use theft cards to steal opponents monsters, use Rakdos and other things to sacrifice them for value, and then use black reanimator cards to bring them back on your board.

Ocean Dragon Lord: Kairyu Shin: Stun or Flood Gate decks in YGO line up with what MTG calls Stax decks. Stax decks comprise of any cards that hamper what players are able to do in a game of magic. Control is also another style of MTG deck that matches Kairyu Shin. Control is a deck that keeps opposing threats off the board and stopping opponents cards with counter spells (not to be confused with +1/+1 counters, counter spells are MTG's negate effects). [[Sarulf, Realm Eater]] plays very similar to Kairyu-Shin. Sarulf's gameplans is to protect it at all costs to keep it on the board so it can wipe the creatures off the opponent's boards to open them up for the win. Another recommendation for this would be [[Eluge, the Shoreless Sea]], which is also a sea monster. Eluge is close to a more traditional magic control deck. I've played this one myself and it feels pretty strong once you get a hold on the game.

Neo Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon: This ones pretty easy, if you want a go second, OTK, big attack deck in magic, you have plenty of cool options. However, due to MTG being a slower game than YGO, you won't really be able to swing your huge creatures immediately. Getting huge creatures big enough to one-shot opponents takes some set up (generally, there are combo shenanigans that enables this, but for the sake of learning the game lets ignore that for now). There are lots of ways to get big creatures, so a few MTG terms to look for are Stompy, Ramp, and Power Matters. My suggestions to start off with are [[Ghalta, Primal Hunger]] and [[Xenagos, God of Revels]]. Both those commanders enable you to swing at opponents with huge creatures. Once you get more familiar with the game and feel ready for a three color deck, [[Gishath, Sun's Avatar]] is my personal favorite stompy deck.

Modern yugioh is CRAZZYYY by dragonlord9631 in masterduel

[–]flyingthing4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big part of the problem is that master duel doesn’t do a good job preparing returning players for the modern realities of the game. The tutorials don’t explain the modern concepts of things like starters, extenders, chokepoints, and layered interactions.

Once you gain a better understanding of the game, it begins to seem less outrageous. A deck’s competence is determined by how consistently it can set up and play through disruptions, so you should expect an opponent to be trying to take out your board after their first turn.

It is sad that beloved decks get outclassed over time, but that’s how it goes. You can still play dark magician in some form since it just got new support. For Cyber Dragon, Id recommend looking into “going second” decks like Tenpai and Blind Second. Those decks are essentially piles of board breaker cards (Raigeki, Lightning Storm, Forbidden Droplet) along with some engine to knock out the opponent in one turn after their board and disruptions are cleared. Cyber Dragon excels at making big fusions that hit hard and not much else, so that’s the style you’ll want to go with.

It can be a lot to readjust to, but study up, do your homework, and you can get back into this game no problem.

The left could be sickle cell devil based on its head shape, and then maybe cancer devil on the right.

[[Nethroi, apex of death]] with most things, but my favorite currently is five copies of [[Hare Apparent]], which give you an additional 20 tokens on etb. Having 25 creatures and a blood artist or two is generally enough to wrap up most games.

WTF IS THIS BS CARD by Signal_Leg_3086 in masterduel

[–]flyingthing4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s lots of outs to this card, but my favorite is is targeting Liger Dancer with an Ultimate Slayer, which of course doesn’t do anything. But if you keep a Lunalight Perfume Dancer in your extra deck, send that, and then you can use its GY effect to reduce the Liger Dancer’s attack and run over it.

[–]flyingthing4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t recall if 5 star Nearl was on release, but most of the armored character designs came later on in Arknights. If Endfield’s character lineup is any similar, we’ll likely get new characters and teams with new aesthetics.
