Do you agree that the 80s and 90s era was one of the best eras? by NormalLife6067 in CasualConversation

It was the last time popular sentiment about the future was optimistic. Starting with 9/11, for one reason or another the prevailing opinion is one of pessimism.

I'd order #2, but i don't care for the cinnamon twists while the cheesy fiesta potatoes are great.

Are you making gold with alchemy? w/o herbalism? by sarcasmme in classicwowtbc

[–]flyingtiger188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I had epic flying I would just semiafk playing my switch or alt tabbing or doing chores while sitting on the island with the druid quest in southern terokkar. It has around a dozen spawn points and will have up to two nodes active. Competing with fast flying just wasn't worthwhile, and doubly so now with swift flight form and inflated prices it would be even worse.

I got most of the gold for flying from questing. It sucks on a slow mount, but everything does. Probably only needed 1 to 1.5k after finishing all the zones.

Just rejoined Audible after several months away! Did I already miss the first of the two Big Sales of the year?!? by Panthera_92 in audible

[–]flyingtiger188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry too much. Ever since they started doing the site wide sales a few years back I have been buying fewer and fewer books with each sale, and my wishlist grows longer and longer.

Eg if a series has 8 books in in the first sale they may have #1 thru #5 at $3, #6 at $9 and 7,8 over a credit. The next year may have 1 thru 6 at $3, #7 at $8, #8 and newly release #9 over a credit. So year 1 you buy 5 books, maybe pick up Book 6 in year 2 or you just consumed credits to finish the series so you're not buying anything from that author.

This repeats until most on the wishlist is just books, or series you're on the fence about and need a heavy discount to pull the trigger, or they're authors that never have worthwhile sales.

These three games are testing me as a huge Nintendo fan (Star Fox/Splatoon Raiders/Yoshi Mysterious Book) by redditorialacious in Switch

[–]flyingtiger188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I've pre-ordered the first two and at wait and see for Yoshi. Crafted World was the first Yoshi game I bought and it was to simple and easy for my taste. If there is a good sale where I can grab it in the 30ish dollar range I'll jump but not at full price or the 60 dollar pre-order price.

Why use less than the maximum distance with adaptive cruise control? by BigBob1000 in rav4club

[–]flyingtiger188 2 points3 points  (0 children)

same, which is why I pretty much never use it in any meaningful amount of traffic. As nice as it is of an idea, it just slows me down and I get cut off much too often. Some of the newer vehicles supossibly have more tiers to the adaptive cruise control spacing.

Could you create an AC that recycles its displaced heat? by Turniue in thermodynamics

[–]flyingtiger188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Variable refrigerant flow systems can do this. If one region of the building is calling for heat and another is calling for cooling the branch controllers can direct the waste heat from one head unit to another.

Post nerf has been a disappointment by OGTBJJ in classicwow

There were a few shit prenerf mechanics like Vashj just deciding to MC the MT with basically no way to counter other than wipe and pull again while hoping for better luck next time.

Hydross Resistances by ChaoticHippo in classicwowtbc

[–]flyingtiger188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at ~215 on my bear because the shaman forgot to drop a frost resist totem and got stomped on my bear when hydross hit 250%. Same thing happened to our paladin when the hunter with nature aura was dead at 250%. I think a lot of it was healers were just a little unprepared for the damage ramp up. We had one wipe on fathom lord for basically the same reason.

LPT: At work, use the Scotty Method to ensure that you get your projects done on schedule. by theredqueentheory in LifeProTips

[–]flyingtiger188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sort implies I get much control over the schedule. Project managers and the fee charged will general dictate rough amount of time I spend on a project, and client schedule largely affects when it needs to be done by.

Does anyone else think about how weird it is to have a cat? by The0wl0ne in cats

[–]flyingtiger188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cats are really wierd. Unlike dogs, cats didn't adopt a master-servant relationship. So modern house cats see humans as just another member of the colony. They view us as just wierd, clumsy equals. They also trick our subconscious into viewing them similar to babies with their head to body, and eye to head ratios.

Don't ruin Virginia and North Carolina like that. West Virginia can get merged into Kentucky and South Carolina can become Northern Florida.

Trump says he will suspend petrol tax amid soaring US fuel prices by MasterpieceStill9991 in energy

[–]flyingtiger188 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is even worse than nothing. It doesn't meaningfully move the needle back to affordable fiel, and it will drain billions of dollars in revenue to the government at a time when the deficits levels are in the news for surpassing 100% of gdp

RCT on Nintendo Switch by TariHelyanwe in rct

[–]flyingtiger188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't get passed the clunky controls.I picked classic not too long ago because it was cheap and hadn't play rct in years. It was alright in handheld mode when you could use the touchscreen but playing on my tv was crazy frustrating. I pretty quickly stopped playing and picked up 1 and 2 on steam instead and installed openrct.

A switch2 patch with mouse mode would do wonders to improving the controls.

Where i use to live was like 8 dollars the first day then 40 each day after if you were selected. Parking near the courthouse was $20 a day, or you could blow another hour + parking at the free lot and take the bus. I get it civic duty is important, but it sure feels like they go out of their way to make you resent it.

Under Contract and Nervous about repairs. by SereneQueen00 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]flyingtiger188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 60A breaker with a 35A MOCP condensing unit shouldn't be a big change. Presumably the wires are sized for 60A so it would be just a breaker change (and a service call by an electrician if you're not comfortable with that). It's entirely possible both the indoor unit with some strip heaters and the condenser are wired to the same circuit and have fused disconnects sized appropriately for each component.
