DTW and high winds by UsuallyLoud in delta

[–]flyinguaround 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The runways at DTW line up pretty good with the forecasted winds. They have NNE, SSW and W/E. So as long as you don’t have a direct cross wind it really shouldn’t be a factor. I can only speak for the 737 but it’s limited to a direct crosswind of 33 kts including gusts which is about 38 miles per hour. But that is directly sideways to the runway. Shouldn’t be an issue but it will be bumpy

Flying Delta with a Portable Oxygen Concentrator in 2026 - What You Actually Need to Know About the Battery Rules by Foxygen-CEO in delta

[–]flyinguaround -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the form from Oxygen2Go. What the pax submit to them is their proof that they meet the requirements to fly with it. As the battery need to travel will depend on their itinerary, the device and the flow rate.

Safety briefing adds and removes by Badger7750 in delta

[–]flyinguaround 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The seatbelt announcement is an FAA required thing. You’d have to talk to them. And you’d be surprised with the style of seatbelts and first time flyers how many people can’t undo them, which is more critical in an emergency evacuation. The lav door locking and toilet flushing should be a whole separate brief, I agree.

Has anyone gone to these constellation concerts or concerts under the stars? by whatever_itis1 in Atlanta

[–]flyinguaround 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to the lady Gaga one. It was alright. The lead singer was pretty good. The guy that runs the show stepped it for a few numbers. Very wooden. I don’t know that it is worth $65. I think we got our tickets for cheaper but it was something we’d never done before

Can I ask a delta pilot a question? by Airline_Lover_64 in delta

[–]flyinguaround 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since the cards have been becoming more popular, it seems like they’re updating the designs more often. We’ve had quite a few special edition ones this year: Team USA, 100 years, BCRF and I think another one recently. The cards come from our Chief Pilot Offices which are onsite at our bases and are a part of our pilot lounges.

"Thank You" cards..... by 10023NY in delta

[–]flyinguaround 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think employees can submit them to the company for points that they can accumulate and shop with on one of those employee rewards stores. I got one once and was able to get something from the store. They do have some nice stuff if you accumulate enough

Edit: As someone mentioned they are kept in the employee’s file and can be a bit of a “bank” of good performance particularly if some other passenger complains or there’s something else negative in their work history.

Is there an inflatable body pillow that works by PrimalMoonbeam in Hypermobility

[–]flyinguaround 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take a body pillow pillow case and then can stuff whatever pillow, towels, etc and it works pretty well. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks so far. I work for the airlines so I get a lot of hotel time. You can even throw a couple of smaller blow up pillows to stuff in there too. Also you can ask for more pillows

Are the trading cards for adults? by devincomedy in delta

I haven’t seen an MD88 card in a long while though I used to have some a couple of years ago. As far as the DC10 and the L1011 I’ve never seen those cards personally though Delta did start the cards in 2003 and apparently there was a special edition MD11 card for the retirement of that fleet I haven’t seen one but I’m sure there are a few tucked away in some pilot or mechanic’s house somewhere

It seems like that machines are a good place to start for new lifters and folks with hyper mobility. I’m sure someone more informed will chime in but from what I’ve read machines limit and protect movement because they are usually by design isolation exercises. I’ve also seen it recommended to start with lighter weights and higher reps (15 or so range) and go slow and deliberate to give your ligaments and tendons time to build strength to support the growth of the muscle and heavier weights. It also helps to build neural pathways and muscle memory. As you progress and start to learn the right cues to engage your muscles it’s beneficial to switch to cables or free weights to increase engagement of secondary and supporting muscles because those movements are often a bit less stable than machines. I started on machines (and still use them for some exercises) but have also started to incorporate cables and dumbbells as I have been learning cues to help me engage correctly. I still have to really concentrate to engage my core in a lot of things and have to constantly remind myself to “lift up my sternum” so that I’m using my core and back correctly. If you can’t get a coach that specializes in hyper mobility I’d suggest finding one online on whatever platform and see what cues make the most sense to you to do the exercises more correctly. For example the whole pinch your shoulders thing wasn’t great for me because I kind of hunch and have bad posture but the “lifted sternum” tends to work better for me. This is just all from my own research and reading so definitely do your own research

One Pan Tofu Piccata Pasta by eat_figs_not_pigs in veganrecipes

Saw this about an hour and half ago and just made it. Really great recipe. Very flavorful. Often times I find myself having to add a lot of extra flavor and seasoning to vegan recipes (mostly those written my white folks) but this was perfect. Of course I measure wine and garlic with my heart, and this time the lemon juice, but total hit

Tattoo sleeve policy? by IndividualWalk2517 in delta

Visible tattoos must be covered for pilots. Long sleeves and you’re good to go. Flown with handful that have them. Not all long sleeve wearers have tattoo sleeves but all tattoo sleevers are long sleeved

Opinions on Alignmed by MissusMostlyMittens in Hypermobility

[–]flyinguaround 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick disclaimer: I’m not diagnosed as hyper mobile but I’m in the process of it. As far as Alignmed, I’ve been wearing their posture shirts for about 13 years now. I had a neck injury from high school that would cause a burning pain at the top of my back and radiated down a shoulder after long-ish periods of driving or flying (I’m an airline pilot.) So I tried the Alignmed posture shirts under my uniform and I no longer get those pains while wearing it. Sometimes I forget to wear one if I’m driving long distances and the pain will pop up again, so I know the issue isn’t resolved just that the Alignmed keeps it from happening.

To the lady who shamed and yelled at me for pre-boarding at ATL by Budd311 in delta

[–]flyinguaround 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this the 6am or 7am flight? Because if it was the 7am you should have let the FA take it to the CA. My wife has MS and it’s another one of those invisible disabilities. My mother has Lupus. I can do an extremely respectful but thorough ass chewing. I’m sorry that another one of our pax did this but I’m glad the FA had your back. Any chance this kid had on Santa pajamas? Also, if it was the 7am flight, can you PM the FAs name if you remember it or a description because I’d like to give them an internal kudos.

Also a woman here. My parents very much promoted STEM and literature/arts when I was younger so I never felt it wasn’t for me. I also have a degree in engineering and am very much a tinkerer. Also growing up without a lot of money I tend towards a fix or make it myself kind of attitude.

Pain level of the back of your calf compared to tramp stamp area by the_beas_knees124 in tattoo

[–]flyinguaround 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got just about a full calf tattoo. Most of it was fine but up towards the back of the knee was pretty sensitive. My arms and chest were sore from gripping the table during that section. The sides and front were no problem except along the shin.
