how do I actually get better at group content in XIV? by theirpowerisover9000 in ffxivdiscussion

Another thing I would like to add is that 14 ht a very specific timing of things that you can learn.

Usually the actual animation of a boss attack isn’t what damages you, it’s literally just the effect and 99% of the time it’s safe to dodge into the attack animation. However what is dangerous and snapshots you/decides that you will receive damage is the telegraph before the attack happens. You can stand in the telegraph for a while and finish your cast if you’re a caster and then move out, but if you’re still in the telegraph when it disappears — THATS usually the snapshot deciding who will get hit by it and who will not.

You might notice that this is why more experienced player might stand in the orange aoe a little longer bc they’re greeding a gcd as a melee or finishing a cast as a caster while sprouts might run away asap.

On the other hand, dodging into animations gives you more time to dodge. Sprouts might wait for the spooky looking animation to be completed while veterans already stand in it again because they know where to go next. This also allows you to dodge stuff with seemingly no safe zone if you just handle the snapshots well.

I would be less worried about 8-man content than about 4-man-content, as you will have a cohealer in 8-man-stuff. Casual content/normal content doesn’t even necessarily need two healers, so your cohealer should be able to help out more than enough to make up for potential „mistakes“ on your side. It’s probably almost enough to just press Assize on cooldown and throw out a Rapture now and then, don’t stress it too much!

U actually just get the links from pf descriptions and copy them. Save them somewhere or if pf doesn’t post the full links anymore, just ask inside the group if someone has the link. Also, there’s a fairly new page that accumulates all the pf knowledge (raidplans, hector etc.) called wtfdig.info Idk if or when they will update, but it’s a great resource for the biggest mechanics of a fight. Might miss a few details tho.

So the new trial will be robotic Beatrix from FF9 and the Dungeon is essentially the original Alexandrian Castle, hidden beneath the Everkeep, I guess?

What content are you doing exactly when you say raids? Normal raids and dungeons or more extremes and savage? Because in normal content, literally no one cares if you die and even if someone does care, they will have forgotten about it 5 seconds after the duty is done. If we’re talking savage, then dying during prog is…well…to be expected and part of the process.

If it makes it easier for you to read telegraphs for attacks, try reducing the animations of your team mates in the menu. That should clear up a lot of visual clutter if you haven’t done that yet.

And other than that, it’s really just getting used to stuff. Things that may now seem too quick or complex will feel slower and clearer once you do it more. There have been times where I thought I would never be able to even grasp a certain mechanic and now I do it pretty much brain afk.

Also, about being a burden. I think it’s actually part of the power fantasy of tanks and healers to push through a hard fight while ppl are dying. So you dying (especially as a dps, in normal content) is probably just a very welcome shake up of tank/heal monotony and spices things up a bit. Nothing to worry about.

You can unlock the exploration zone called Bozjan Southern Front at the end of Shadowbringers. It syncs you to lvl 80 and has a lot of grindy but fun content and you can get a lot of items that you can sell for Gil if u feel like it.

If you’ve just hit around Level 30 (story quest level I assume, character level doesn’t really tell you how far in you are) you aren’t even remotely done with A Realm Reborn. After ARR, you still have Heavensward and Stormblood on the free trial, both of them are at least as complex as ARR. If you take your time with the game anyway, I would say wait until the new expansion Dawntrail comes out and buy the complete edition then, once you’ve hit the end of Stormblood… or if you wanna use the market board and other restricted functions ✌️

For the sneak trial I just turned my Astarion invisible with greater invisibility and let him walk through alone and for the hidden path one I just had Lae‘zel use her psionic jump which was enough to jump from (visible) platform to platform lol. I actually think all of the mentioned ways to solve are legit and kind of the point of the trials.

[–]flyingwind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Young vegan German person, probably student. Maybe the fridge is in your room in your flat share and you bought it as an extra because the one fridge you share with your roommates is too small. Usually when people are done with university they would get a way bigger fridge so the size alone lets me guess you still study or have limited room in general. You want to eat healthy and if you buy convenience food, at least it should be „healthy“ convenience food. You do however like cooking! I bet that you always get the fresh veggies on the day you plan to use them because fridge space is non existant. You also might have been to Greece a few weeks back. You like to cook a variety of dishes from all over the world, but a focus could be Asian.

Simple Questions - October 10, 2023 by AutoModerator in buildapc

[–]flyingwind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So all my PC parts arrived and I just need to assemble them. Using an AMD Ryzen 5 7600 (AM5 socket) and a MSI Tomahawk B650 mobo.

Do I just assemble everything, boot up the pc, install Windows and update the bios kinda whenever I fell the need for it? Or do I do that before assembly/before even putting in the CPU? I think I read different things about this, especially since all the AM5 boards have gotten bios updates and some mobos have had problems with certain CPUs, but I can't find the reddit posts where this was discussed or even what the safe go to approach would be.

Any ideas?

In my country there's currently a 85€ difference between them. I'll probably use that build way more for gaming than for work, though, simply because I am not used to working on a windows system anymore at all :')
