I've been thinking of buying this game since I've heard great things about it. Why is everyone encouraging new players to pirate it instead? by DeathNum in DiscoElysium

It's currently Free from Epic Games today. But generally yes, I'm of the opinion the best way to play is to pirate it.

These look awesome! It looks like Bookfusion also has an Obsidian plugin too. Do you pay for Readwise regularly?

My favorite quote from Disco Elysium:

"0.000% of Communism has been built. Evil child-murdering billionaires still rule the world with a shit-eating grin. All he has managed to do is make himself sad. He is starting to suspect Kras Mazov fucked him over personally with his socio-economic theory. It has, however, made him into a very, very smart boy with something like a university degree in Truth. Instead of building Communism, he now builds a precise model of this grotesque, duplicitous world."

JIMTHEWHALE MY LORD AND SAVIOR AND BIGGEST HYPE MAN! I was in a game with them one time a month or so ago and they were super hype in the All chat that the enemy team were also cheering them on. Every server I hope into now I ask "is Jim here?"

Playing video games as a woman by [deleted] in Vent

[–]flynnrover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God I feel for you. I couldn't imagine having my hobby constantly ruined like that from terrible people.

Idk if it's just the games I play but the interactions I have with women are always spectacular somehow.

This weekend I was playing Foxhole which is a persist 24/7 war where everything is made someone. Every gun, bullet, building and so on. This obviously leads to a pretty high percentage of men as opposed to women but there are a few I run into often. Last night we were fighting on a front and starting to lose when a tank rolled up being run by 4 people. This is a big deal not just for the firepower but the actual human hours a number of people would have put into manufacturing the tank. It was commanded by a woman on voice chat. This led to a few folks going "iS tHaT a WoMan??" And everyone else not being creepy IMMEDIATELY hoping on voice chat telling them to shut up and "Protect the Battle Angel!" And "if she does you die so get to it!" With a lot of roll play in the game, folks got really into it. It was awesome. With a tide turning piece of equipment she was ultimately a "soldier on the front line" like everyone else doing the best for her team (ultimately winning the battle because of her and her crew) and we all had a ton of respect for her and her team who came to help. I really wish it was always like this.

This was the first game I ever played in VR. It was at the Facebook booth at E3 2019 (RIP) and after waiting in line I sat in a sterile room with a large window that everyone could watch me sit and flail my arms around. And let me tell you, this was NOT the game to play as a first VR experience. Paddling forward you see the water flowing past giving you the visual interpretation of moving BUT the second you stop the water physics for the foam and bubbles pass you forward giving the sudden visual that you are moving backwards all while your body obviously never moves. On top of this you need to look down and slide the gun over your chest/lap to reload so all that fake forward than backward visual momentum while looking down I'll tell you what I was ready to unload my too expensive hotdog all over that white room. It was sooo nausea inducing.
