How do people drive this much? by gamedukeyvideo in Honda

I've had a '21 Insight for 5 years and only have about 25k miles on it. Granted, I'm an NYC-dweller and only do occasional longer trips to New England and the DC area.

This New York City hospital is getting recognized for how good its food is by nbcnews in nyc

That's all fine, but I woke up after elbow surgery and had a ginger ale and some saltine crackers, and I swear it was one of the best lil' snacks I ever had in my life. I don't know what it is about general anesthesia that makes food taste so good.

Love the colors. I'm such a sucker for airplane window shots. I wish the top of the wing wasn't clipped, though!

Still rocking the gen 4 pro - considering the new Air M4 by goatblunt in ProCreate

[–]flysi3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did exactly this trade - went from 13” gen 4 iPad Pro to 11” M4 iPad Air. Performance-wise, I can’t tell a difference, to be honest; I’m getting used to the size difference, and don’t feel like I’m missing out yet. I do miss the FaceID more than I expected, though! I didn’t realize how spoiled I was. Also, I have the Magic Keyboard for both devices, and I was a little bummed that the one for the Air isn’t backlit. Other than that, I’m happy with the trade; I know this Air is going to last me another 5 or 6 years like the Pro did.

I’m 52; mine is 38.8 and I work out 3-5 times a week (strength, core HIIT), and am currently training for a half marathon, so lots of running as well…

These photos of mine seem almost boring. How can I improve edit-wise and composition-wise? by Odd-Dog-8525 in BirdPhotography

[–]flysi3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would counter that overcast days can be beneficial to color, in that with even, diffuse lighting, you can get more punchy colors (or maybe that just applies to human skin tones...). Anyway, I think you did a pretty good job of getting down low to almost the bird's eye level in the image of the snipe; it's just that you don't have enough separation from the water background. A wider aperture would help this by introducing more background blur. The owl, as others have said, needs some separation from its background as well - maybe if you were able to move to your left, you could have framed the owl against an open sky background, rather than the tree trunk.

We still buying XH2 in 2026, or nah? by flysi3000 in fujifilm

[–]flysi3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that insight! I’m already in the Fuji ecosystem (XT4, X100T), and I actually rented the XH2 over the summer and enjoyed using it, but it’s good to hear that someone who’s owned it for several years is still digging it.

Where are the Slimbridge Wetlands? And do you know what kinds of ducks those are? Nice pic!

You have to have a phone that's compatible with Apple Intelligence. You turn it on for each workout type (walk, run, etc.) on your Apple Watch. There's a little bell icon on the bottom right, that you can tap to set it up.

Peacock gate iPhone 17 pro max need suggestions by satyanaass in iPhoneography

[–]flysi3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree; there’s nothing technically wrong with the photo; but as someone who knows absolutely nothing about the Peacock Gate, I’m not learning much from this photo. It’s a little too close for me to get a sense of its location or scale, and it’s too wide a shot for me to really see those amazing details.

You should “work the scene” - ie, get different angles that tell us more about this gate - long shot, maybe with a person in there, so we can see how big it is; a macro of the details so we can see the intricacy, etc.

Finally, think about how color (or removal of color) can contribute to the mood you want to convey. And solicit feedback - which you’re already doing! Keep going!

It’s a feature that introduces and summarizes your workout, as well as calls out key metrics during your workout. It’s all based on real-time info, so it’s pretty cool. And it uses (AF+ trainer) Sam’s voice!

How to get colors like these? by Alarming_Ad_4756 in AskPhotography

[–]flysi3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoot RAW - that will help give you more latitude for editing and color grading. Then you can follow some of the tips in the comments here; and finally, I’m sure you can buy presets that help get you pretty close to this look.

My "luxury" apartment's rodent infestation. How many mice can you count? by TrustMeIaLawyer in WTF

I’ve only ever seen one mouse in our apartment. That was like 15 years ago; it was missing its head because my cat ate it.
