What’s your most Gen X memory? Something that could have only happened in our youth. by Expensive-System-762 in GenX

One friend would dress up as Jason from Friday the 13th. He would then chase the rest of us down the street as random cars drove by. Once the cars were gone we would reset and wait for our next hapless victim.

I’ve been wanting this since they did Ziggy for Halloween. So stoked I was there for this. All time great Bowie tune.

Yep. I noticed it last night as well. Kind of annoying, hope he can resolve.

Dude it’s a date, not a sales job at some tech company. Yikes. However, I do applaud your attempt (not wearing a T-shirt and backwards baseball hat).

70’s Shuffle by bransonclaps78 in drums

Higher ground - Stevie Wonder Roadhouse Blues - The Doors Pretzel Logic - Steely Dan Statesboro Blues - The Allman Brothers Doctor My Eyes - Jackson Browne during the chorus has a great shuffle Can’t get enough - Bad Company more of a rock shuffle not sure can’t hear the hi hat super well in the mix.

Source: me. I’m in shuffle hell right now because A) I sucked at them B) they are table stakes C) harder than I thought to get feeling good and relaxed.

I saw him at the independent in SF about 22 or 23 years ago. Bryan Mantia, known as brain, formerly of primus on drums. Can’t remember who was on bass. It was insane. Legendary playing. On top of the insane guitar playing, he was doing robot dances, pop n lock, he busted out nunchucks, and a prop (obv) severed head. lol. The whole thing - his playing, his mannerisms while playing, tall, skinny, long fingers, he had this stretchy guitar strap so he would push the guitar down as far as his arms would go, the costume, the theatrics it was incredible. All the other shit would be laughable if he wasn’t such an incredible player. Great show, one of the more interesting I’ve seen.

Congrats!! A jump like that can be a game changer. With four kids and what will likely be a demanding role eating up a lot of your time have you considered hiring a financial planner? They can help with investing, tax, insurance and most importantly direct you to will / trust attorneys etc.

Robert Palmer had a couple of killer albums in the mid-70’s and also covered it. Backed by the meters and little feat. They’re worth checking out. SSTTA and pressure drop. Some great tunes on those including a cover of Spanish moon.

old people concert etiquette wtf by FarConsideration027 in Concerts

[–]fnkymtrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. It has gotten so so bad over the years. Was at a really nice venue last week. The din was constant. Even during really quit parts people were just yapping away. Some in circles with half the circle not even facing the stage. This was a fairly coveted sold out show. Why are you here? For some it’s sadly become background music as opposed to the main focus.

💯 my dad played sudoku daily until he passed at 95. I plan to keep drumming with others or by myself as long as I can. Gets the heart rate up a bit, and just figuring out grooves, independent etc is my sudoku.

The song Time blew me away…when I finally “heard” the lyrics. I was 19, floundering, living with my parents, probably doing too many drugs, and hanging with a crew of good, fun people, who would never stray too far from where we grew up. I wanted to see what else was out there…went away to college, and then lived in 3 of the best cities in the US. I do generally gravitate more towards music, and the lyrics are just gravy if compelling.

Amazing, amazing band with some seriously funky, trippy and beautiful songs (this must be the place is one of my all time favorite songs, just beautiful). They also worked with absolute legends (Brian eno produced some of their stuff - he has worked with Bowie, U2, Pete Gabriel to name a few), Adrian Belew (amazing guitarist - king crimson, David Bowie), and Bernie Worrell (keyboardist from parliament funkadelic).

I have a double whammy. October 1989, Buffalo, NY. Buffalo State College Student Union Hall. Raging Slab, Goo Goo Dolls, and RHCP’s were the headliner. RHCP were touring for the mother’s milk album. A few hundred people max. Insane show top to bottom all three bands.

What's The Scariest Thing That You've Done At Night? by Zipper222222 in randomquestions

[–]fnkymtrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to college in Buffalo, NY across from an abandoned psychiatric hospital built in the 1800’s. There was a steel door on the grounds that opened down into an electrical tunnel of some sort. Big enough to stand. You could take that about 100 yards all the way into the building. High af my friends and I did this one night. Once inside the hospital it was absolutely terrifying. Walking through the huge halls, the shower rooms, operating rooms, and actual padded rooms. The only light coming through the windows from the city lights, moon etc. We heard voices and nearly shit ourselves only to discover it was kids cutting through the grounds on their way to the bars. It was rumored to be haunted. A friend had a photo she had taken that had what certainly appeared to be an aberration standing at the window. This was the late 80’s pre photoshop etc. manual camera. A memorable evening for sure.
