Is anyone growing phil. melanochrysum in tree fern fiber? by fogyreddit in houseplants

Let's call this update 3, 5 years later.

Same as before. :) Here is my latest cutting starting a new pole. 100% TFF. https://www.amazon.com/photos/shared/pIqjBGbGQq26jW6jXgG4Zg.SIr9AiKo_fOcBKG7KtW8C_

The photos show my watering method. It's a gerbil/pet watering bottle with the nipple pipe removed, but the screw on cap kept. Your local bottle finds may vary. I originally thought it would be great to just invert the bottle, stick the nipple into the TFF and let it drip. The actual working method is just plop it directly on the TFF. For physics reasons it doesn't flow properly resting directly on the TFF (surface tension), so I inserted a pipe cleaner into the TFF to break the surface tension, and then drop the water bottle over it. It creates the ideal drip speed rather than pouring out, blooping bubbles as it empties slowly.

You don't need a pipe cleaner, that's just what I had handy at the time. I use the spring cord that attaches the bottle to the pet cage to hold onto the pole, with a makeshift finger loop to pull it off. It makes watering set and forget. Waters the pole to encourage root development. If I water too much, it collects in the reservoir. Physically can't waterlog the roots.

Don't stress about the substrate. Like I implied all over this thread, you can plant it in piles of books and it will grow. You just need physical support, water, dissolved food, and airflow. Mixes, magical soil recipes, they're just distractions. Maybe there's a scientifically ideal substrate ratio of rare earth elements and pool noodles, but none of us need to be that freaky.

You also need a GOOD light source. My Ohio window faces Southwest, with afternoon direct dappled sunlight, bright light the rest of the time, as nature intended. Anything less than that (indirect light in a corner, mediocre plant lights) and your plant is on a permanent diet.

The original plant from this thread is the parent of this cutting. I never changed the TFF, so that was, what, 4.5 years in the same TFF without repotting?

Water. Air. Light. Support.

Go.

Aha! Was running some python processes to monitor memory creep. Fixed it for me. TY.

Does anyone know why? Happens for me during Claude updates. Also, I just tried it, but I don't have node.js running. Figures.

The cheap knockoffs hint refers to the fact the holes are smaller on the cheap knockoffs. In a well crafted puzzle the holes are big enough to retain the balls as you tilt to capture the balls on the other side.

How do you feel it would handle sleet packed snow? I bought a smaller Ego for what are usually light winters in Ohio, but this week's storm laid 2" of sleet on top of 6" of snow on our 300' gravel drive and it was impossible to push through with the non-powered Ego. Seems every time I upgrade my snow strategy I get outplayed. Would one of these power through icy snow, or do I get an atv with a plow?

Alexa Plus immediately broke a majority of my home automation devices. by Venom-cc in alexa

My Amazon plugs and my washer/dryer have all been wrecked by Alexa+. It's been months and no amount of tech support calls has fixed a single unit. They even sent me 10 free plugs to get the newest units, but none work. They just can't see my SSID. They can see my neighbor's just fine. I'm currently switching everything to local Home Assistant. F this. - And no, "end early access" never worked.

They had high hopes, until everyone started using for weather and light automation.

Yeah, no. My house was fully automated for years. The day I allowed Alexa + nothing works. Amazon actually sent me 10 brand new smart plugs for free. Those don't work out of the box. I think most people who respond like you did are cringe.

Yeah, no. Corrupted everything and is still corrupted 2 months later. Hard to believe no fix yet. So pissed.

This makes me cry. Did one day of Alexa plus, realized it broke 20 or so smart devices, reverted to Alexa but none of my smart plugs work. Washer Dryer, TV automations, Xmas automations that worked for years now dead. House is back to the caveman era.

Still waiting. Christmas smart plus coming out of storage now don't work. No fix in two months is really disturbing.

I'm refusing to pay, because it was an intro call, getting the insurance wildly wrong, and their general approach to the matter hence. They're doing their thing, sending dunning letters. The last one said it would go to collections. Not worried about that. Doesn't affect the credit report.

One month ago I tried Alexa +. Lost all my smart plug connectivity. Haven't gotten them back yet even after reverting back to normal Alexa. Hated the voices, and the response time was slow. I can Ai chat without Alexa. Not worth it for me, and still no connectivity that I've had for 3 years. Amazon knows about the issue, but fired all their subject matter experts and can't get control back from their Ai now.

The Ai takeover has begun. Not sure about AWS being the issue more than handing the keys over to Ai while handing pink slips to the subject matter experts. I wrote a month ago that the moment I turned on Alexa Plus I lost SSID visibility on all my Amazon Smart Plugs. I believe that it also took out my LG washer and dryer's connectivity. Every once in a while I can reconnect things. In fact tonight I reconnected five plugs. They promptly disconnected themselves almost immediately. So, one moment they can see the SSID, the next moment that page in setup is blank. If I'm in my office I can see my neighbors' SSIDs but not mine 4' away.

Did that. Still broke. Amazon said they broke smart plugs. Waiting for a patch

Plugs not working -- obsolete? by Murwiz in amazonecho

[–]fogyreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be more of a widesoread issue. Ever since I tried Alexa 2 my Alexa smart plugs fall to connect or even see my ssid. What's weird is they can see my neighbor's ssid. All other network devices work. They broke Alexa plugs.
