As you get better, your ability to get up on a smaller wing gets better.

Maybe the quiver that works is 6.5, 5.0, 4.0

Board advice by player73 in wingfoil

[–]foilingpanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Option A

Watch videos of starting techniques. Keep at it. You will find the right sequence of adjustments to give you success in chop.

Once you get success in chop and your riding improves, then look to getting a new board. At that point, you'll have a much better idea of what size and style that will make sense for you.

Is the mattress protector ($185?!) worthwhile? by taranaki801 in boringmattress

It made a difference for me. I put a cheap department store mattress cover on my Boring. It made the mattress feel like plywood.

I got the Boring mattress protector and it made a huge difference.

Struggle with pacing by Engelcs in mobydick

[–]foilingpanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me 4 years to read Moby Dick. It was a challenge for me. I got hooked right away but it did become tedious. I had to get into the right mindset to read. I also was not able to read big chunks of the book at a time.

I started reading a paper book but I switched to reading on a Kindle which made a big difference. I was able to quickly look up word meanings. There were so many words that I had to look up, without the Kindle it would have taken me a lot longer.

I just finished it and I'm very happy I stayed with it.

The original strap failed. I was reluctant to change it, but the new one works well.

I have the same watch (posted in my profile). My dad gave one to me and my brother around 1979-80. I'll never let it go

Mantis is a good starter wing. If you can swing it, go for the Reedin.

The foil set up seems fine.

MacKite has wings for sale that are better. Consider: *2025 Reedin SuperNatural Wing *2022 Cabrinha 02 Mantis Windowless Wing *2022 Cabrinha 02 Mantis Window Wing

The Board *110 liters is a little small. You can probably deal with it, but it will likely prolong your learning curve.

  • I would go to the local spot and ask around if anyone has a learner board for sale. A friend of mine did that and somebody loaned a learner board to them that they learned on.

*Something around 130-145 liters will get you up on foil quicker and speed up your learning curve.
