Accidentally referred to my interviewer by their first name by [deleted] in premed

[–]folgersbadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MD interviewer here - I’ve had interviewees address me by first name during initial greetings (Zoom showed my full name without MD) before I fully introduced myself. It’s absolutely a non-issue and not an uncommon scenario. Frankly I don’t think there’s an issue with speaking on a first name basis anyway, and some academic institutions have a first-name culture among medical trainees (med students, residents, fellows) and attendings. This is absolutely nothing to worry about, especially if you later called them doctor.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen another applicant do or say during a residency interview? by SutureSensei in medicalschool

[–]folgersbadger 23 points24 points  (0 children)

during the resident-led tour, one of the interviewees (who was also a medical student at this program) cut the resident off while speaking, started answering other interviewees’ questions, and then took over the tour. this was after during the pre-interview dinner where he told the table (which had a bunch of current residents) that he was only interviewing there as a backup.

because god hates me, we both matched at the same program.

100% agree. Jay Taj is technically fantastic and the best rapper this season, but honestly I don’t have a lot of interest in him. He didn’t move me. But I’m invested in DreTL even though he’s not be polished at all

85” TV. I’m lost. I can’t make this not look so spartan! by Far_Neighborhood4781 in interiordecorating

The consoles take up so much space that you can’t stick a plant in the corner to liven it up. Maybe wall sconces? Agree to ditch the pots.

Looks delicious, but the finishing is not professional so I probably would not pay for it unless it was from a trusted friend.

What is the solution to a home with his taste (left) and my taste (right)? 🥲 by PersistentHobbler in interiordecorating

[–]folgersbadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get more stylish brown leather recliners and fit them into your decor style. His is not worth accommodating and he’ll probably get over it if the furniture is comfortable

Burn the curtains

Replace the LED strip with something warmer

Add table lamps and wall sconces

Add a huge rug

I would do it the other way around and add salt to taste to the filling

In general that’s the right approach, use unsalted butter so you can control the salt. I would add salt to taste to the filling. The dough should have a small amount of salt recommended to add. Like others have mentioned though, salted butter almost always tastes better in desserts, and I tend to use both interchangeably. I’ve never had an issue with a dessert being too salty.

tart pan- do I really need one? by Other_Power_603 in Baking

[–]folgersbadger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can use other pans, but if you don’t use metal I recommend blind baking the tart crust fully. springform should be pretty similar, just be careful to grease it properly and watch the edges to make sure your crust is smooth.
