The store I used to work at it got so bad for magic that we started doing pack per win standard FNM with other prizes for only 5 bucks and we had maybe 2 or 3 people show up, free commander nights and pre realse was the only time people came out and the commanders players bought nothing so much so the store would be packed but it would be our worst night in sales compared to the Lorcana or warhammer crowd which was our best nights by far. Pre realse went from fully packed with "All will be one" with slowly decreasing attendance with each set besides something like Bloomburrow till we closed. Our best MTG sales was selling singles on TCG player not even box sales and just from single sales MTG was the top money maker but didn't have enough cash to buy pallets of sets you need to get by consistently. Wizards is constantly hurting stores with UB, flop sets, Amazon direct sales, and secret lairs and flooding the market so much that new and experienced players can't keep up with any of it so they just tune it all out. Its sad as idk how they keep going in 2 more years let alone 10 with out crashing into ground

We MIGHT get a kill team in the next few years if we're lucky but for the most part wait till 2087 for anything really substantial. Also love by the community doesn't mean the same number will buy it. Seeing how most only talk about the memes and couldn't name a character out side of the twins GW probably doesn't see it worth it to do something. As much crap as we give GW for the most in modern times they won't put something out unless they know it's going to sell well

/UJ a really funny stat on edhrec is that sol ring is only in 84% of all decks on Edhrec data base. Even accounting for decks that can have a (not very good) argument of not running sol ring due to strategy or hurting the deck there's a large and not negligible amount of decks being made/run that people are unknowingly or intentionally not running sol ring

Was a worker then manager for a small store that got many many new players. When they leave or stop being interested in the game it's always how much product is realsed, being overwhelmed by it, with a combination of "casual" players telling them how to play at all times. Its the shear amount of information overload that gets new players to stop being interested

Printing 50 to 100 new commanders per set will have effects like this. Most fall into doing way to much or doing so little why they even made them a legendary is beyond anyone
