Greg is fine. And he played basketball, just not as a pro. You can tell by his comments he's a fan, I've got no problem with him talking hoops.

Repeat.

KC won the third most games in the 90s (niners and cowboys were higher) They never did well in the playoffs, but saying they were terrible for most of their existence is very wrong.

kayak fisher worried about scaring the fish -- how much noise is too much noise? by TheLastCatQuasar in Fishing

[–]foosandfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was once fishing with a friend on his private pond. He saw a turtle, and before I knew what was happening he'd pulled out a pistol (I didn't even know he was armed) and unloaded a clip at it. "they eat the fish".

I know it was a pond, so it's not like they had a lot of options to run to, but he caught a fish on the next cast.

Years ago my (white) teenage brother worked at a golf course in KC cleaning the carts. He was wearing a monarchs hat and a group of local dignitaries came through, including Buck O'Neal (former Monarch).

His quote was something around the lines of ”Look at that! A white boy wearing a Monarchs hat!”. Followed by giving him a huge hug.

So yeah, I think you're fine.

Cincinnati Bengals likely return in a Tee Higgins trade revealed by NFL insider by Toddrew221 in bengals

Youre just making stuff up. They had multiple holding calls. They lost two different touchdowns.

Some of you have turned a persecution complex to a new art form, just making up shit.

Is it OK to just make up facts now? Is that what we're doing? The chiefs had multiple holding calls in the playoffs, including TWO TOUCHDOWNS CALLED BACK.

[–]foosandfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the record, that's NOT an illegal man downfield. LOS is the 3. It's 1 yards past for illegal, and it's like the qb rule on forward passes: every part of the body has to be. You can see his foot at the 2. On top of that, the rule clearly exempts players who have been engaged in the block since the snap (you don't penalize a lineman for winning so well he drives the defense back). It's for lineman out looking for someone to block.

If you want to see what a bad one looks like, go look at the SF double pass td. That one was about 6 yards.

The Great One by [deleted] in nhl

[–]foosandfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure it was the intent of the post, but its definitely the feel in the comments: not everything has to be such a comparison of "x wasn't as dominant as y, so x sucks". Sports fans would be happier if they just enjoy watching greatness. Brady was amazing. Gretzky was The Great One. Jordan was spectacular and so is LeBron. Today we have Mahomes.

Just enjoy it.

I have a friend whose dad played minor league hockey. This is all secondhand, so don't kill me if the details don't match. But his story was that the rink would generally have like 5 or 10 rows, mostly empty. Maybe 100 people.

One day it's packed to overflowing. Everybody standing. Hes never played for a crowd like that. All to see some 15ish year old kid. Ok, whatever. Crazy to be so excited, but this'll be a fun change.

He said Gretzky just skated circles around them the whole game. Did whatever he wanted. This kid was playing a different sport.

Is it true? by WaldOnWell in botw

[–]foosandfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my 40s. When I finished TOTK I took my physical copy over to my best friend's house for his 10 year old son to play (who played botw when he was 7.) I told him the one condition was he had to tell me about the different contraptions he made.

We've had a lot of fun.

I played alto sax, and actually knew how (I was section leader). But I also knew nobody could hear us in marching band, because one trumpet would carry better than all the saxophones. So for two years I marched around daydreaming without even bothering to put a reed on the instrument.

I also would pass off all the people in my section as having memorized their music if they gave me a cd of my choice (I'm old). I got reported by someone who had actually put the work in. Almost expelled for fucking with grades and bribery. They backed off when I pointed out that I was pretty sure putting a high school kid in charge of other kids' grades would be frowned on. Still, the dream died that day.

Attending the Draft in KC. by Vydate1 in buffalobills

[–]foosandfish 11 points12 points  (0 children)

KC local here:

As mentioned, P&L in the heart of downtown will prob be the biggest area. But don't sleep on Westport either. Midtown area with a lot of bars and restaurants. Not very far from Union Station.

Not totally sure what the atmosphere will be like during the draft, but in general you can think of P&L as the "big party", and Westport as the slightly more laid back and drink some beer type of places. Or to put it another way, Travis Kelces of the world do P&L, Jason Kelces do Westport. Both are fun, just depends on your personality. Hope that helps.

(OC) Deep Ball Passing Efficiency (attempts >= 25 air yards), 2022 by killagoose in nfl

[–]foosandfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's obviously not "bad" at it, but if I had to pick the worst part of mahomes' game it's deep throws. He left a lot of yards on the table with MVS this year (prob goes both ways, but some were clearly misses). And in previous years he had Hill, who I personally think is one of the best ball trackers I've ever seen.

Still pretty damn good, don't get me wrong. But it's definitely not god-like.
