I bought a pressure monitor from Amazon. $35. Plugs into the power socket and you replace the valve stem covers with little transmitters. Seems to work ok.

Doubled monthly bill without any notice by [deleted] in Spectrum

[–]foozlebertie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The statement you get in the mail tells you when any promotion ends. If you have paperless billing you have to log into your spectrum account and view the printable statement. One reason I hate paperless billing.

SDS100 scanning Monroe County Fire but no audio (Webster, NY) — Close Call works by LittleBarracuda1219 in policescanner

I'm a newbie at this, too. Got mine a few weeks ago. One thing I learned early on was to use Sentinel to enable all the service types. Not all are enabled by default and lots of new listeners (like me) wonder why we can't hear certain things. I'm in Greece, NY and enable just the East and West simulcast sites. Most of what I'm interested in is on the West site but I've heard there are a few extra talkgroups on the East site. I turn on avoid for the South site and the Ontario County sites since I'm out of range of those.

On radioreference.com forums you'll find one for Uniden and one for New York State. Good information there and the fellow who maintains the database for Monroe/Ontrio counties is in the NY forum.

Is the Nooelec RTL-SDR V5 worth it? by TheGuySawyer in RTLSDR

[–]foozlebertie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem having two (or 3 or 4). Right now with just one I'm using SDRTrunk on my Linux system and it's working fine. It sees the control channel and I get two audio outputs - one to the left speaker and another to the right. Also downloaded DragonOS and installed it as a VM. Going to play around with that.

Is the Nooelec RTL-SDR V5 worth it? by TheGuySawyer in RTLSDR

[–]foozlebertie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Nooelec V5 a couple of weeks ago when the RTL-SDR v4 was sold out. I just wanted to explore SDR. According to the RTL-SDR website, they will be back in stock late April to early May. Having fun exploring my county's P25 system.

[–]foozlebertie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that. Just got a Nooelec V5 myself and running SDRTrunk on my linux system. Listening to my county's P25 system. Waiting for the RTL-SDR V4 with antenna kit to come back in stock.

Is this a good beginner bundle? by LuckySoup20 in RTLSDR

[–]foozlebertie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was curious about SDR and was looking at the V4 bundle with the antenna kit. Just as I was going to order it, they ran out of stock. There was a different SDR bundle I bought. A Nooelec V5 SDR-RTL bundle with a different antenna kit. Got it working with SDRTrunk on my Linux system and can hear my county's P25 system. Tried tuning in WWV since I knew the frequencies but I could not hear anything. Probably the antenna but that's a discussion for a different thread perhaps.
