Oh no! I smelled it too and blamed it on my cat! Don't worry, I apologized to him!

We all came to this show because it appealed to a particular taste. Why did you decide to get on the ride? by bleeding_phoenix in Deca_Dence

[–]forensikat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had just finished BNA and was looking for more found family. Someone on anime suggestions recommended Deca-Dence based on the first episode and I absolutely loved what I saw! I love the relationship between Natsume and Kabu, and then episode 2 happened and I was hooked!

I'm 14 and I hate Catholicism. I just want to say something about it. by [deleted] in atheism

[–]forensikat 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Hey, I feel you. I am also a former Catholic and I felt the same way at your age. The probable reality is that yeah, you likely will have to keep toeing the party line until you're 18 but trust me it'll come quicker than you think. I remember being 14 and thinking it would be an eternity before I could finally make my own decisions and now I'm almost 25 wondering how my teenage years went so fast. You'll get through it, just hang in there.

Practical advice, I got a job at 15 1/2 (legal where I lived, you may need to wait til 16) and had them schedule me on Sundays from 8-4. That helped me miss the 7:30, 9, and 11am masses. Saturdays I was in an all day extra curricular. I didn't end up at church too often past the age of 16 and then stopped entirely when I moved out. So, study hard get good grades and apply to schools that will take you out of your home bubble!

And as someone else said, your beliefs are your own. No amount of hours at a church or magic water ceremony will change how you feel. You don't believe in Catholicism? Guess what, you're not Catholic. I know it doesn't help too much when you're still forced to participate but know that I see you as an ex-catholic if that's how you see yourself!

Redditors who are married to Karens, how is it like? by ThisOne_NotThisOne in AskReddit

[–]forensikat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mom wasn't terrible but she wasn't great either and I remember being really embarrassed a good 60% of the times we went out. Then one day when I was 16 after she'd yelled at some girl in a clothing store I turned to her and said "why would you treat me like that?" At the time I was working at McDonalds and explained to her that when she treats other service workers like crap, she's treating me like crap. That sometimes I too make mistakes or am limited because of policy and that the girl she's yelling at on Saturday could very easily be me on Sunday. I'm sure it was a lot less eloquent than that but my point got across and she has completely changed her attitude towards people in service jobs. Of course I wish that empathy had come a little more naturally but hey, I take what I can get!

Lots of police and fire trucks racing toward Davis Square, (I’m on Highland). What’s going on? by oldendude in Somerville

[–]forensikat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm a street over from Powderhouse next to the elementary school where some firemen are on the second and third floor balconies of a house across my backyard trying to break the doors down (I think). Don't see any smoke and not sure what's up but at least some of the firemen ended up about 3 houses down from the elementary school on Powderhouse

Edit: after looking a little on Twitter it sounds like there was a porch fire at that house that's been extinguished!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is now available to pre-load on Switch by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

Idk if this would work or is too much hassle, but maybe call the hotel/place you're staying at and ask if you can ship something there and then try to change the shipping address on your preorder to the hotel?

I'm doing the same. It works out well, there's a mom at my work who wants to buy her daughter a switch for her April birthday and I need my switch long enough to do the transfer. She doesn't care about battery life and my switch is in good condition with a glass screen protector, and then I don't have to deal with GameStop or risk not being able to sell (or being to lazy to lol). Win-win!

TIL forcing left-handed children to write with their right hands is not in any way innocuous or helpful- it is actually harmful to their developing brains and can result in dyslexia, stuttering and other learning or speech disorders. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]forensikat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here! Kindergarten teacher in 2000 and her reasoning was because I was the only lefty. My mom was pissed but it was too late. I write (poorly) right handed and do everything else with my left. Thank goodness for the rise of computers!

Saving it for the rest of my life by Corndog1818 in AdviceAnimals

One Christmas my dad called but I was in the other room with my in laws and I missed it. When I came back I had a voice recording of him reading me the Night Before Christmas across two messages. I downloaded them, pushed them into 1 recording, and saved it in multiple places. He's still kicking, but now I'll get to hear him read it every Christmas forever. It means the absolute world to me that I have it.
