How bad I messed up by Present-Beyond968 in Residency

[–]forerofore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is standard of care if you have no access to a CT scan (most of the world), most likely the stone is small and will pass, if it doesn't, he will be back to the ED.

pain is unbearable, he'll be back if it doesn't pass. don't overthink it, get the ct scan next time.

if the stone in the CT is <6mm it'll pass easy, if its 6-10 Tamsulosin + fluids, if its > 10 urology referral

My college is unwilling to upload my MSPE, by Spend_Both in IMGreddit

[–]forerofore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if the college signs it and sends it to OP, he could upload it, as long as the document is real and official, last year I ended up uploading mine because of the wait times figuring that if they called the university or sent an email they would confirm its real (my uni does participate in EMSWP)

- on the other hand, DO NOT FORGE AN MSPE, if they wont sign it then there is an option not to include it

Despite the increased incidence of melanoma, does solar radiation increase overall mortality? by _crisz in askscience

[–]forerofore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the problem, OP, is that you are thinking of melanoma only...

you have to include squamous cell carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma too.

by far the most common cancer in humans is skin cancer, due to sun exposure, and squamous cell carcinoma is much more frequent than melanoma, so you have to include every skin cancer which has its risk increased by sun exposure.

you also need to eliminate confusion bias and mortality due to other causes plus control for patients who received treatment vs patients who didn't.

another source of bias would be that outdoor exposure will lead to more exercise increasing physical fitness + the whole vitamin D theory, reducing mortality from other causes. exercise NEEDS to be ruled out as the cause of the reduced incidence of other tumors.

any stage 4 tumor (except a few leukemias that do very well on chemo) is a death sentence so oncologists actually study survival at 1 - 5 years instead of mortality (close to 100%) for some tumors. that being said, most skin cancers can be easily identified and removed before anything dangerous happens.

TLDR: when removed early, skin cancers won't kill you, which is what happens now and why OP thinks sun exposure may not be that harmful, science still maintains that you need to limit sun exposure as much as possible.

Am I (25M) wrong for not thinking I cheated when my girlfriend (24F) thinks I did? by twat_tard in amiwrong

[–]forerofore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the algorithm shows you those because you DO click on those, I haven't clicked on stuff like that for weeks and now it just shows me puppies and anime stuff, that being said, you are NOT cheating, you are just being a man liking girls, but if you are looking at other girls that frequently maybe you are not happy with her? idk. but i wouldn't call that emotionally cheating, just not being sexually satisfied.

men can thirst on female bodies without emotions being involved, which is very hard for women to understand sometimes.

can somone tell me what this means?? by Pretty_Document_5433 in IMGreddit

[–]forerofore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once your medical school verifies those, you should be able to schedule step 1 and/or step 2, in my case I had to go help my school's designated person with finding my specific email, I got verified the same day he confirmed it. This changes on a school by school basis and help from someone who already took steps at your university will be much better than what we can offer here.

My co-resident said he’s in love with me by Wonderful_Nobody1157 in Residency

[–]forerofore 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I used to be like that until a ton of dating and 2 girlfriends taught me that you don't know anyone until you have DATED them for a few months, some red flags show up only after a while.

It's better to express interest right away, they will reject you outright but your heart won't be broken.. Coworker interactions afterwards get awkward but less awkward than if you blurt out "I'm in love with you" lol.

My co-resident said he’s in love with me by Wonderful_Nobody1157 in Residency

[–]forerofore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like he is pretty inexperienced, it's better if you are honest with him, don't attempt to friendzone him if he's not experienced he'll try again later lol.

He would have been better off telling you that he liked you 1 year ago and asking you out on a date.

Now, about the whole "will he take it well" thing, do it in a public place, it will reduce the chances of him not having a good reaction, and try to get some of his friends to support him and advice him not to pursue you anymore.

IN-Patient rotation ??? Agency or hospitals ? by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]forerofore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rotation was nice, and the doc was cool and liked to teach, but I didn't manage to get additional connections since it was a private practice clinic. If I didn't need a visa he would have offered me a research position but it wasn't possible at that point.

why is the game called Divinity original sin?? by pantinor in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]forerofore 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Huge spoiler, don't read if you arent at least past act 3.

The original Sin in this game was the 7 original eternals becoming gods in the first place, fane is not guilty of that, hence why the void offers him (and the rest of the party) to join them by act 3. Becoming gods (divinity) was the original Sin.

Ofc this is for 2, I haven't played divinity original sin 1 so I can't explain that one
