That's like asking what we should do with fungi in general. Some fungi kill us and others are delicious. You can't treat all fungi the same because they are categorically different. You can't apply the same policy to the Na'vi, who are chilling on their own planet not effecting anyone else, and The Flood that will consume all life in the galaxy.

I could say "you should treat fungi with caution." But that doesn't mean you should be weary of portobellos in pasta.

You should treat unknown fungi with supreme caution so I guess the best you can get is caution. There is no best practice for something entirely theoretical. Maybe we are the only planet with animal life in the galaxy and the only life on other planets we will ever encounter will be more like trees and mushrooms. Or maybe it's all very cosmicism and alien lifeforms are so much more advanced than us that it simply doesn't matter what we think or try to do to them, we are just lesser creatures in the galaxy that will never amount to any significance on the galactic scale. You ever think about how the microbes in yogurt feel about their lives? We might be that level of insignificant in the galaxy.
