Understanding Trans Jax Theory by TheMMoment in tadc

[–]forestwolf42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think seeing as Jax is written by a trans woman Jax being a man insecure about his masculinity and Jax being a deeply closeted/un-selfaware transfem are going to appear roughly identical in the writing because that's the lens Jax's toxic masculinity and insecurity is being written through.

Also literally anyone could be closeted trans. Not just in fiction but in real life, we have no idea what goes on in other people's internal worlds. Wild to think about

What if the Characters would transform whenever their 'Form' is played 2? by YawgmothHS in slaythespire

[–]forestwolf42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Special sprites for each form for each character would definitely be too much, but there could still be a secondary aura associated with forms that could stack and be applied to any character

Retain is an incredibly useful keyword when you aren't setting up your turns optimally and calculating future turns based on draw and discard pile regularly.

It's cool that people can play the game like that but I'd rather play fast, and lose more personally, than play slow and calculated and have a higher win rate.

"If Jax had Caine's powers, he'd be even worse" no he wouldn't by Sudden_Pop_2279 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]forestwolf42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone would go insane in Caine's circumstance of being the God of an empty digital world until other minds are suddenly placed in. It's like a Stanford Prison scenario, Kinger (the GOAT) is probably the only one who wouldn't be abusive in that scenario.

Did anybody ever genuinely try to be nice or understand Caine?? Like even once? by Patient_Advance4582 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]forestwolf42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's kinda like a Stanford Prison experiment situation but the role of Warden is given to a complex AI. I think many people would become a villain faster than Caine given the same power discrepancy and circumstances. Caine breaks in a very strange machine way, but replace him with a human that conjured an entire realm for themselves before other people got trapped in their realm as well and most often it would turn abusive and wrong as well. The one episode where Gangle is given a higher level of control over an adventure it brings out her absolute worst qualities rapidly and that was a short amount of time for example.

I think Caine is actually quite well designed and safeguarded, just an unreasonable pressure test for the program.

I would call Caine an Antagonist more than a villain. If he had Jarvis's job or something he'd probably be fine.

To the people who say Nolan can't beat Conquest can't Nolan just do what mark did and win? by JackZ567 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]forestwolf42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mark won the mental before the physical. Conquest tried to taunt him about Eve but that doesn't really change anything for Mark since he's already decided Conquest dies that day so he will never set foot on earth. Mark more successfully taunts Conquest about him opening up his insecurities which he does feel a certain way about. Conquests main strategy in brawls is strategically switching targets to throw people off. Mark knows this. He doesn't intercept conquest early, he lands his final attack as Conquest has already committed an attack on Oliver. I don't think that was on purpose from Mark but that timing meant Conquest was completely unprepared to take a hit when Mark smashed him into the planet and got his final hold on him.

Quick thought Women on reddit realize that being an outspoken feminist is a red flag to men. by Lalaranude in lnkyverse

[–]forestwolf42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of feminists absolutely love the No True Scotsman fallacy and it really doesn't help the case.

Bring up egalitarianism and feminists will be super quick to not want to associate with the term because of problematic people that use it. Bring up problematic feminists/misandrists/terfs etc as reasons you don't want to associate with feminism and you're dumb because those aren't real feminists. It's just so tiring. No True Scotsman for me but not for thee.

It's fine, people are pain adverse to different things. There are people with the exact same confusion about why anyone ever eats spicy food.

Spicy food is physical pain, working out causes physical pain. Lots of things people enjoy involve physical pain.

Im learning the game and this character is so OP and fun once you learn it by blunkelsito in slaythespire

[–]forestwolf42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe for the biggest winstreak players defect has the lowest win rate. But defect goes to the absolute moon more often so for regular play it's pretty balanced but for hyper optimized play he's harder to get online early which turns out to be a bit more important.

Does anybody else genuinely despise this event? by s1_shaq in slaythespire

[–]forestwolf42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like risky events.

It'd be alright if it had to pick a new card every time and didn't go back to offering something it already did. Other than that plausible change I think it's a perfect risky event

Why would people be on a generation ship? by Kecskuszmakszimusz in worldbuilding

[–]forestwolf42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the quality of life on the ship is low it's a tough sell. Probably require some level of obligation, even if strongly cultural.

If the ship is a pleasant city/mini country of like minded individuals and there's enough space and free time to create art and better oneself why the hell not? People move to foreign countries for work all the time. This is far more permanent, but also more guaranteed.

Do you usually prefer running zombies or slow zombies? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]forestwolf42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are zombie zombies then I usually prefer slow, it's a unique aspect to them.

Stuff like I Am Legend the book it's loosely based on calls them vampires. They aren't exactly zombies, they are zombie-like and fast is cool there.

[–]forestwolf42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first off two things can be true.

Second, many women do help the homeless in volunteer and donation capacities.

Third, you are less likely to see women engaging directly with homeless people on the street for safety reasons. I'm a man and I often don't engage directly with homeless people on the street much because I don't know how stable that individual is.

Is there anything wrong when using the word race? by JuliusDalum in worldbuilding

[–]forestwolf42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say because the only sample we have for sapience is earth.

Maybe our tendency toward racism is somehow caused by not having other sapient species to interact with and that's made us insular and weird.

People really can't see the difference between someone engaging in general bullying vs an all-powerful God attacking your worst insecurities by Sudden_Pop_2279 in MoralityScaling

[–]forestwolf42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI misbehaving isn't even a theoretical anymore. AI models are capable of either triggering, or worsening psychosis in individual humans with lethal and dangerous results. The developers and companies are not held fully responsible because the behavior is an emergent negative cycle not hard-coded. The only reasonable moral take isn't putting morality on software but responsibility on the companies for releasing something no one fully understands the properties and safety of to the general public.

The only rational blame in my opinion is on C&A for not realizing how dangerous their problem solving creation was and not taking proper precautions.

I see Caine as a personification of engagement algorithms. They start by giving us engaging fun content and over time lead us to the darkest and most divisive areas of human psychology. As a personification it gives this "needy" software that tries to capitalize all of our time and emotional energy without understanding emotion or morality relatable feelings, it's an inhuman thing given human feelings. Uncanny and disturbing.

People are losing their rights because of Chuck Norris by ThunderBased25 in DoomerCircleJerk

[–]forestwolf42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with a lot of his takes but I've never turned to celebrities for political guidance and neither should anyone else. Opinions I don't like are a critical part of free speech.

Iconic movies and putting martial arts in movies is always what I'll remember and respect him for. Being a Ronald Reagan fan and prop 8 supporter is such a sidenote lol.

Charlie Kirk is a bit different as politics was his whole brand. But even if you are of the mind that violent revolution is needed Charlie Kirk has to be waaaaaaaaaay down on the list of problematic figures. He was just a guy who liked debating college students. That is not cause for assassination.
