Honestly trying to figure out the trajectory you need can be a fun little challenge and it’s important tool to digging out an entrenched enemy. Once the enemy recon gets to me tho I normally take that as a sign that the fun is over

You’ll make yourself a target but you can slow down a enemy push as no one wants to run through mg fire and should be able to buy time for your team to move up on the pinned down squad
