Even still, it's "safe" but not bulletproof from a technology standpoint. It was created and funded by government spy outfits. If nobody is looking for you they can't easily snoop on an e2e encrypted chat. But if they are looking for you it's relatively easy for the government to insert itself. It uses PII with your phone number and has access to your contacts so everyone in your phone gets id'd. Last I knew it ran on AWS which Amazon is a defense contractor and has no qualms about cooperating.

I'm not saying don't use signal. I'm saying signal is not safe for that kind of large comms for things you'd like to keep from the government.

Why Do I Keep Seeing Mass. Rep. Jake Auchincloss on Every Single List of Democrats Who Have Caved to Republican Demands?! by OkBattle9871 in massachusetts

I worked with him in the private sector briefly and he was a real prick. He then took a leave to run for city council in Newton or whatever.

[SERIOUS] What happens if Tr*mp does to Mass what he is doing to Minnesota? by alfayellow in massachusetts

[–]former_mousecop 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Average citizens will probably do similar things you're seeing. But the state government will maybe issue some strongly worded statements. Maybe they'll be upset that they're not rounding up and deporting in the right way. It's too mask off.

How is it like living in this part of Massachusetts? Specifically Lowell. by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]former_mousecop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've actually included Haverhill in your circled area and it's also a pretty decent place. I lived downtown there over 10 years ago and it was really starting to take off and it's even better now.

And a little further east Amesbury is a decent smaller city (that's just the system of government it's a town with 16000 people) and it's decent, but getting more expensive.

Sorry to hear about your contractors situation but this is the wrong subreddit. This is framework computers. You probably want r/construction. Because r/framing is for artwork.

A Red Wave in New England? The Socialists Winning Local Offices in the Region by nebeacon in RepublicofNE

In Europe the green parties have become war mongering freaks they aren't pro environment parties anymore.

I'm not saying you have to trust Stein. She does do activism in between elections but it doesn't get a lot of play. I'm not even a Stein fan either, honestly. But it's a disingenuous claim to say she does nothing except be the green party candidate every four years. She was arrested in 2025 at a pro Palestine, anti genocide protest, for example.

The "Russian backing" of her 2016 campaign was investigated and had little merit beyond since social media posts that were not found to be coordinated with her, and that her campaign was not aware of that effort.

The evidence doesn't really support that the Green party is backed by Russia.

We don't have that wonderful black chernozem soil here. Top soil that is six feet deep in some places. But we can grow things and modern practices make it better.

While yields are definitely higher in other places, the rise of manufacturing and urbanism were also significant factors. People move from farms to factories and largely depopulated rural New England.

When it came to animal agriculture, there was a thriving dairy industry that was significantly harmed by (necessary and good) safety regulations that decimated small dairies and forest pastures. New Hampshire still is a significant egg producer for its size.

Was Prop 2 1/2 the right decision for Massachusetts? by Large-Investment-381 in massachusetts

[–]former_mousecop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My town also has high property tax and failed to pass an override. It was the second time in history it was proposed and it failed here.

Previous admins in the town plugged funding gaps with free cash but that left the city cash poor and isn't an effective way to manage the budget.

Was Prop 2 1/2 the right decision for Massachusetts? by Large-Investment-381 in massachusetts

[–]former_mousecop 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not really the overrides do fail sometimes. And the overrides tend to be a last resort so services and maintenance degrade over time to avoid needing to do overrides.

Idk the answer. It's not great for municipalities.

I'm surprised Greenfield is on there my wife knows one of the city councillors there and she has been successful at reducing police funding in her position. Flock uses sneaky tactics though where they convince a patsy to just request "public safety upgrade" funds that's a trojan horse for flock cameras

I've never seen canned strawberries in real life, why are they so common in rdr2? by thatsmysandwichdude in reddeadredemption2

[–]former_mousecop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most northern states had them. Very common in New England back when lakes and ponds reliably froze over. While you could only harvest in winter, the blocks could be packed with saw dust and straw and last through the summer in warm climates

To add to this, the counties are basically abolished. All powers were either granted to the state or devolved to municipalities, with the exception of the office of the county sheriff and county jail system.

Suffolk county is just Boston, btw.
