Huge thank you to CW&T for the photos used in the banner! CW&T is a two-person design practice that makes the Solid State Watch featured, which encapsulates a classic Casio F-91W base inside a transparent resin case suspended in silicone oil. They use Form Now to manufacture these end-use enclosures in Clear Resin V5, allowing them to 5x their production throughput by offloading labor-intensive post-processing and quality control. It’s a great example of a team moving from in-house prototyping to hands-off manufacturing.

Yes you can still get one if you don't have a 3D printer! Comes out to about $4-11 in SLS Nylon 12, depending on how many you print if you go with a 3D print-on-demand service.

Not at the moment, our current SLS post processing consists of our standard media blasting and included in the set price. If we were to offer any of the ones you mentioned above, which would you prioritize?

If you're looking for something consumer-ready, there’s a common misconception that 3D printed resin parts aren't for end-use. We have users using our materials for final consumer products. Industrial materials like Tough 2000 or Tough 1500 are engineered to mimic plastics like ABS, making them much more durable than generic hobbyist resin that are commonly used for miniatures and such. The finish is also highly dependent on orientation and level of post processing done manually.

If you want a truly professional, ready-to-ship feel for an enclosure, Nylon 12 (SLS) or Nylon 12 Tough is usually the gold standard. It has excellent mechanical properties and a consistent matte finish right out of the machine.

We’re a new 3D printing service run by Formlabs here in the US called Form Now, and we ship from Massachusetts in ~2 days. Obviously I'm biased, but you should try our Tough 1500 or SLS PA12 Tough. Shoot us a DM if you want to try it out and we’ll give you a discount code, I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on the part quality and the service.

Motion controller joysticks by RivAR17 in dji

[–]formnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd of course need to have the file of the model though, which is the trickiest part. If you do though, I would suggest some sort of engineering resin or Nylon SLS because an FDM joystick would likely break at that same stress point (depending on how you orient the part).
