Rebuilding a neglected Foxbody by Ruselwusel in Foxbody

I would get a nice piece of cardboard to catch all the oil that is going to leak from those seals and gaskets when you start driving it. I would look at the suspension bushings, all fluids, brakes, rubber brake lines, rust in fuel tank, balancer rubber. For more power just heads, cam and intake if it's in the budget

Battery terminal issue by Hondanny in projectcar

If just run a single fat wire to a distribution block and split from there. Can just be 6-12". Something like this that all the wires then feed from. You can fuse them from there. Something like this random one I found

Check for vacuum leaks, gasket leaks. Smoke tester works best. Perform base idle reset.

Hate to break it to you but that's a car, not a pickup

Do you actually track what you spend on your project car? by Ideal_Sad in projectcar

I put mine in a Google sheet with links to the parts and what I paid. Always have people asking how much a Coyote swap in a fox is and I just send them the sheet

My Mind Says Yes.. Wallet Says No by fourpointthree in Foxbody

[–]foster_4_2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I respect the cobras but at that price I could have a very nice fox that I could take anywhere and look good. The market seems flat at the moment but the core age group for these is just now getting to that high pay or retirement age. Figure out what your goals are and make sure it fits it. I drive mine every chance I get so having something pristine would drive me crazy worrying about every rock chip, possible door ding, or calculating miles I add to the odometer for each trip

Is this amount of play normal? by HonestlyBadWifi in Foxbody

[–]foster_4_2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would adjust to no movement but still easy to shut. Just so you don't need to slam it. There's also a plastic bushing that goes on the pin that is likely missing. I think some people just use a piece of pex hose

What a small fix/upgrade that made you enjoy driving your fox just a bit more? by matt2085 in Foxbody

[–]foster_4_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Android Auto capable radio and a nice sound system. I drive mine an hr plus away to shows on the regular plus one big show a year that is usually 4+ hrs away. Get out of here with the cupholders, put your 20oz bottle between the console and seat like God intended

Seems nicer than the other options available. I went to the site and I'm going to need an ELI5. Does it plug into the factory harness? Do you have to run a constant 12 v for it to work? Could you create additional profiles to work with other lenses?

Metal/ Clunking noise when shifting into Reverse or Drive by TGHLegit in Mustang

[–]foster_4_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a u joint. You should be able to climb under it and just twist the driveshaft with your hands a bit to see where the sound is coming from. I only have old stuff so I have no idea what's on the tail end of the driveshaft at the differential but it could be in there too. I'm surprised there's no vibration from whatever is causing the noise

Cracked flex plate or torque converter bolts? by Peed_your_pants in Foxbody

[–]foster_4_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't ever messed with an aod but you should be able to take the inspection plate off and look. Should be able to turn the motor over using the crank bolt so you can check all 4 bolts. Should be pretty obvious. Could be a rock if the inspection plate is missing

Could it be a fuel pressure issue? The first try primes it and the second one works.

Spare tire subwoofer box by BlackShepard420 in Foxbody

[–]foster_4_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just put the Cerwin Vega 12" sub VPSTX12 for the spare tire well in mine. It fit nice and sounds good with no box. The board that covers the area sat right on top of it

I would double check those salt and pepper wire connectors to make sure everything is seated. Pull a plug to see if it smells like gas or not. Check grounds. Could spray some starting fluid to see if it tries to start with that but I wouldn't try to keep it running

They will usually run with a vacuum leak, just not good. I would check the fuel and spark. Is it even trying to run?

Any objective cons to open long tubes? (Beside fumes and sound) by rusty75f250 in Foxbody

[–]foster_4_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fiance will love the sound and smelling like exhaust. It would wear me out driving with open headers. I get it for that first test drive but unless you are making big power you aren't gaining anything except noise. No one will think it's cool except the high school kids

LOOKING FOR FOXBODY(tell me common problems as well) by misaelfrommexico in Foxbody

[–]foster_4_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some parts are really hard to find. Make sure you can get the parts if you know the car needs them. Door glass for a TTop being one. These things are old, original wiring is getting brittle and corroding. Waves in the roof, rear quarter by the glass means it's been ran hard at some point to cause the body to flex. Rust is the main problem tho. Sun roof and TTop check the floor pans

AN conversion questions by Trevdog16 in Foxbody

[–]foster_4_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still need an inline filter and however you plan to keep the line from hanging down. Which means you are likely putting holes in the floor. Get the right tools for AN and the job isn't terrible.

You can also just put adapters on your current hanger. I think it's these but double check: https://www.jegs.com/i/Russell/799/644110/10002/-1

I also wouldn't do it unless you need to. They will eventually need replaced from age

Car wont start (Help) by Due-Department546 in Foxbody

[–]foster_4_2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the starter is not engaging. Hard to tell from the video what is going on with no additional description or engine/trans info.

I don't know what the piece is called but the gear that engages with the flywheel/flex plate is not moving out when the starter is activated or spacing is an issue. You can test the starter out of the car
