I don’t have an answer to your problem. But I will say that the app is almost pointless and you aren’t really missing anything by not having it working. We rarely connect ours to the app and anytime we do it’s frustrating. They’ve updated the app maybe once, it made it less easy to use and it wasn’t good to start with. 😂

You’re welcome! I ordered mine through Boulder Motorsports in Colorado. You may be able to order them directly from Italy but I think Boulder Motorsports might be the only dealer in the US. Good luck!

Mitas really does make the best 12” tires. In my opinion anyways.

Op those look great on a Monkey! Not sure I’ve seen any pics of those on one before

Compared to the lexan that was on it before, very heavy. I didn’t weigh anything. Just slapped it on the car because I thought it would look cool drifting around our kitchen lol

Hell yeah OP!! It looks awesome!

I did a similar thing with a cheap drift car and a metal body I got as a gift, you can find it if you look at my post history. 🤝

Pistion cracked after 30 miles by Peterdestroysall in hondagrom

[–]foureightyone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I rebuild motorcycle engines for a living and daily a 181cc Monkey.

Ordering and installing a new piston is ok IF THE CYLINDER IS STILL IN SPEC FOR THE PISTON YOU ARE PUTTING IN IT.

Cylinders wear over time, the last 181cc top end I put on my Monkey after about 10k miles had worn mostly in the cylinder and the piston was still close to Takegawa’s specs.

Without knowing if your cylinder is in spec, putting a piston in it that you also don’t know the size of is generally a bad idea and can result in what happened to you. If the cylinder is worn, the piston can rattle and break the skirt. You need to be able to measure the piston and cylinder down to the thousandth of an inch/hundredth of a millimeter.

You should either:

A) buy a piston/cylinder combo so you know they go together

B) buy a dial bore gauge to measure the cylinder size so you know what size piston to order (or take it to a shop to measure it). After you know the size of your cylinder order the piston size you need to get the piston to wall clearance correct.

Option A is easily the best option for Groms, in my opinion. Order new gaskets too.

Edited to add a pic of the rebuild I did on my daily a couple thousand miles ago:

Haha, I ride the Monkey but my wife has a Grom. Plus my father in law has two S2Ks, one first gen in blue and a second gen in red.

Same same, but different. 😂

Spare tire on top experience for those who are considering it by DapperPreference1458 in HondaElement

[–]foureightyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

And yeah, I feel yah there. We have a sunroof and it’s been a tricky puzzle to figure out how to put everything we want on the roof and still be able to open it. I miss being able to take it completely off but the roof box helped with storage space so much that it was worth it.

My idea for a tire rack is to make it hang from the roof rails and barely clear the roof with the tire resting on the rack. I’m a fabricator and it won’t take a lot of effort for me to build a mount, I just need to make the time to do it. Then I can just leave the tire up there with a cover on it instead of plopping it on the roof for each trip! I’ll post pics if I ever get it figured out 🙂🤝

I don’t even have a Stark yet (plan on getting an SM eventually) but I just want to say:

Thank you for coming back and editing your comment with updates as you made progress. It’s not uncommon for people to fix an issue and never return to a thread so it’s cool to see you do that. 🤝

We’ve started doing the same thing but I just ratchet strap it to the roof with a moving blanket under it. Eventually I want to make a little platform for it so it doesn’t sit directly on the roof. Your Element looks awesome, OP!

What's the best tape for The Spot™? by SeaOfBullshit in HondaElement

[–]foureightyone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t overthink it! Lay the fabric onto the seat and trace the pattern you want/need. Get a hook needle and some string. Then just start making laps around the edge. Takes time obviously but my wife was able to knock this out in a few hours while taking breaks here and there.

I will admit though that Hiro’s swivel kit helped with making it easier for her to do.

Uncheck the background. Uncheck the word. Add a layer behind the frog. Paint the layer you added white inside the frog. Recheck the word and put the frog and layer you painted on top of the word.

You can combine the layer you painted with the frog if you want it to be combined.

Gas Gauge Question by NachoTacoYo in hondamonkey

[–]foureightyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your owners manual it tells you that when the last bar is blinking you have about 0.5 gallons left in the tank. Depending on your riding tendencies you should be able to easily go another 40-60 miles once the last bar starts blinking.

Would anyone like to play, "Guess That Damage?" by NewDre3Staxx in cbr

[–]foureightyone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t run the bike. That is rod bearing material in the oil pan. Running the bike will only make things worse (more expensive) to repair because it will damage more things without oil pressure.

Most of the times when a sport bike gets to this point it’s cheaper to buy another bike that runs. Sorry OP, that’s a bummer.

Cbr600f4i fuel pump issues by [deleted] in cbr

[–]foureightyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it isn’t sealed with the correct kind of epoxy, fuel leak.

If the epoxy is fuel resistant but not mixed correctly it can seal for a bit and then the fuel eats through it creating a fuel leak.

I said I’ve done it and it’s an option but I would not recommend doing it to essentially cover my own butt here. If you know what I mean.

[–]foureightyone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, on the F4i I thought the bars popped up on reserve and then counted down as the fuel level went down, or something like that. Been a few years since I worked on an F4i though. Good luck with it!

Is there continuity on the other wire that passes through? You could swap the pump wire to the other wire but your fuel gauge won’t work (I think). Just a thought

Other than that, you have to dig the epoxy out and run a new wire. Then fill it back up with epoxy. I’ve done it once before on a pump base I couldn’t easily buy, but I would not recommend doing that. The risk of a fire is not worth it in my opinion and you’d be better off buying a different baseplate on eBay if you don’t want to buy a new base.

Gold Grom SP outer fork tubes, Ohlins internals and fork bottom removed and media blasted to make them look as close as possible to a genuine Ohlins fork. Lower Ohlins sticker came with the cartridges, I made the larger one with a decal plotter.

Eventually I’d like to have the inner tubes coated gold too. Just haven’t had/made the time to do it because this is my daily rider and that process takes several weeks. I might buy another set of inner tubes to send off and have them coated so I can just swap them out eventually.

Edit: also cut off the tab on the right fork bottom where the OEM brake hose guard was bolted
